What a unique space! If you ever wanted to feel like an Indonesian Keebler elf (being that it is an amazingly decorated Bali style cottage, built in a tree) then this is the place for you. Unique details and decorations kept surprising us even after our fourth day there. The bay that is located steps away from the cottage has some world class snorkeling! Staying here was a really unique and amazing experience!

This cottage is in the most amazing location, which is why we chose this as our first base on the Big Island. The snorkelling from the beach (which is super close to the cottage) is amazing! It's really nice having the equipment at the place too as it saves a small fortune on hiring it. We used the BBQ which is excellent, and it's almost dream-like sitting out eating out under the fairy lights and stars. As other reviews have said there are bugs -we had a visit from a large spider and there are lots of mosquitos (repellent is provided at the cottage) but it is entirely worth it. City of refuge is short drive, and Kealakekua Bay is a 20 minute walk - though we found snorkelling from the local beach more enjoyable! Sunsets from local beach are also amazing. All in all we loved this place and would recommend!

My wife and I spent an incredible couple of days at the Bali cottage - it was a unique and memorable experience. We loved the outdoor shower and the woodwork is beautiful. Manini Beach is only a block away and the reef snorkeling was really amazing (we went 3 times a day!). Karen was very welcoming and showed us around the neighborhood when we first arrived. We enjoyed the company of her cat who spent time lounging around with us on the porch, and the cute geckos who would grace us with their presence at meal times. It was a wonderful stay and we hope to stay at the cottage again in the future. It really was unforgettable!

The Bali Hut is like a place you'd see in your dreams! It's definitely one of a kind, built with creativity and a love of art, beauty, and peacefulness. My husband and I stayed there for 6 nights, and we didn't want to leave. Karen was a wonderful hostess! She gave us great suggestions on restaurants and places to go. She had everything we needed, including snorkeling equipment, beach chairs and towels, boogie boards, and an ice chest. The kitchen had everything we needed. Karen even bought a brand new barbeque for guests while we were there! You definitely need to have a sense of adventure, and be ok with having a few geckos visit the kitchen and bathroom, and be able to sleep with sounds from the outdoors. Ear plugs help! We can't wait to go back!

Karen's Bali cottage is an incredible, unique, beautiful place! She goes above and beyond for her guests. My partner and I spent one night there and we wish we had booked more. A small beach is a stones throw away. Sounds of the ocean and frogs will lull you to sleep :) perfect for travelers wanting a secluded getaway close to nature and away from crowds. Thank you, Karen, for your hospitality!
