  • Great location for snorkeling, kayaking and viewing the dolphins. Close to the beach which was nice. Friendly and helpful hosts. Please note that this cottage is not enclosed and there are no screens or windows so you are exposed to the elements; bugs, mongoose, and any other critter that might want to come in. There is no lock either so if you are the kind of person who needs security, this place is pretty open. A unique experience.

  • This place is just wonderful and Karen and Ron lovely, heartwarming people with lots of good tips! The Cottage is situated close to their house but with enough space for privacy! We would recommend this place to everybody visiting the Big Island! Its perfectly situated to explore the island and its literally a 5 minutes walk to swim with wild dolphins! worth every penny!

  • A fun place to hang out for a relaxing week. Balinese style with laid back island sensibilities. The location can't be beat - so close to the beach! Ron and Karen were helpful and friendly. And I even enjoyed the geckos.

  • We enjoyed our stay at the cottage very much. This is an absolutely unique place. The branches of the big tree that is growing through the cottage shake with the wind and these sounds and the ocean and the geckos and the birds are great to listen to.
If you need quietness for a good sleep, this cottage may not be the best choice, but we could always fall asleep again.
Karen and Ron were very friendly! They live directly near the cottage, so good advice for a trip on the island was always at hand.
Thanks again for everything and especially the champagne for our wedding anniversary, we enjoyed it very much!!!

  • We LOVED our stay at the Bali cottage! Our only complaint is that it was too short! Karen was extremely helpful and responsive. Can't wait to go back another time =).

  • Bali cottage in unique in every way, From the fact that it is built around a wonderful tree, to the ancient Balinese panels and ornaments to the eclectic collection of surfboards, there can be nothing like it anywhere. The property had everything we needed, including a friendly and thoroughly well behaved feline. We enjoyed the atmosphere of this unique place, set in a beautiful, secluded garden, planted with great care and as the result of considerable effort by the owners.

It is only a few steps away from the little beach and park of Captain Cook, Kealakekua Bay where we enjoyed outstanding snorkeling, watching spinner dolphins and magnificent humpback whales and taking a glass of wine as the sun went down over the magnificent Pacific Ocean.

Karen and Ron were attentive, discreet and very knowledgeable hosts and we very much look forward to staying with them and enjoying their company again.

  • Hands down our best airbnb stay yet!! We loved our vacation in Karen and Ron's cottage! We fell asleep to the sound of the waves and woke up to birdsong every day. The rooms are lovely and the outdoor shower and lanterns set a perfect mood. Plus, it's like a home away from home--we had everything we could need and then some: boogie boards, snorkeling gear, local hiking and travel guides, a stereo and Hawaiian CD collection, sunscreen, bug spray, a little fiction library for light reading, beach chairs, coolers, and a full kitchen with pots, pans, and spices. The only downside was that it had to end. We'll definitely be back the next chance we get!!

  • Karen and Ron's Bali Cottage in Napo`opo`o on the Kona coast, just steps from Kelalakekua Bay, is a delight. Excellent sense of privacy with the cottage in its own tropical grove. You feel immersed in nature under the sheltering banyan, amid palms and other lush foliage, the afternoon breeze from the sea, and the sound of breaking waves at night. Had an extremely enjoyable stay. Ron and Karen are excellent hosts.
