About This Listing
A quiet 3-bedroom log cabin tucked away in the woods, yet a short walk to the beach. It's our home away from home. Check out the video tour on youtube. Search for "Lake Tahoe Log Cabin Rental" and my name: "Bill Bowles"
This is my family's only vacation home, and is very dear to our hearts. Its a three bedroom log cabin located in Rubicon Bay on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. It has six beds, and can sleep up to 10 people. Its fairly rustic, but with all the comforts of home... and its a quick 10 minute walk down to the lake.
Its perfect for a family vacation... whether its a long weekend, or an extended multi-week getaway. Bring the pets, the kids, and the snowboards/bathing suits. Lake Tahoe is an amazing place... and having your own comfy place there is the best way to do it.
In the Summer its a great place to relax and have a barbecue after a day of sitting on the beach or hiking in the woods. We're a 20 minute drive from Emerald Bay, D.L. Bliss State Park, and Sugar Pine State Park. We have beach access, and the use of a shared dock on the most beautiful (and yes... SANDY) beach on Lake Tahoe. The water is clear, and the sand is hot. There's a volleyball court, and a swimming area... and a great community of families all summer long.
In the Winter, its a great spot for a family ski retreat. Its a quick 20 minute drive to Homewood Ski Resort... the best-kept secret of the Tahoe Ski community. The lift tickets are affordable, and the lift lines are non-existent. Light up the giant fireplace, and bust out the Catan board (we have all the expansion packs) ... cause there's nothing quite like getting snowed in at a log cabin.
Any time of year, this place is a magical, quiet place to relax. We've loved it since 1984, and we've had hundreds of guests throughout the years who've enjoyed it with us.
Before you arrive, we'll need to get on the phone in person and go over a few things. I'll tell you where the hidden key is, how to get down to the beach, etc.
Feel free to bring families, pets, in-laws. And please eat, drink, and be merry to whatever level you wish.
If you're renting during the winter... and depending on the level of snow, there may be an added $50 cost to plow the driveway. I can arrange all of that, but we'll need to be in touch about it.
Just what we needed! Tall trees, clean air, the smell of a wood fire in the cabin. It was perfect. The lake was so inviting even us 'ol bitties went swimming. The place is rustic so don't expect soaker tubs, espresso machines and matching towels. Just relax and enjoy. Most of the neighbors weren't there so I imagine it gets more congested later in the season. Stairs are a bit steep but there's a nice bedroom on the main level. Kitchen is pretty complete but bring plastic wrap, baggies, paper towels, coffee, etc. There's an array of condiments in the fridge. Upstairs twin beds are a bit saggy, best for kids. Two full size beds upstairs are comfy. We drove 2 minutes to the private beach because we packed a cooler and beachy stuff. Otherwise it's an small uphill walk back from the beach. Stop at the market in Tahoma, it's a good 10 min drive to groceries.
Lake Tahoe is one of most beautiful lakes in the world. The beach access from Bill's cabin makes the cabin special. Bill's is an excellent Airbnb host. His presentation of the cabin is honest and accurate. Bill was helpful and answered all our questions. We enjoyed a week's stay in June 2015. I have no criticism of Bill or his cabin. I do have one suggestion. While the oven works, the smell is annoying. In the long run, I think whatever it takes to improve the performance of the oven is worth the effort. That said, I would give our overall rating as 5 stars for both Bill and the cabin.
Awesome place. Actually under advertised in my opinion. Lots of space. The fireplace kept us warm the whole week we were there. Close to the Lake and it sure is picturesque. I can't want to go back.
Bill was great to deal with. He was always very responsive and let us know what to expect. He even recommended a restaurant and the views were breathtaking. Thanks again Bill. We will be back for sure!
Bills cabin was absolutely wonderful. You feel like home the second that you walk in. It was fully stocked with everything you need and a very short walk to a beautiful beach. Bill was very speedy whenever I contacted him. Thanks to the wonderful cabin my family had an unforgettable trip!
We had a fantastic stay at Bill's family cabin. Our kids loved the private sandy beach just a short walk from the cabin. It was also ideally situated to several trail heads leading into the Desolation Wilderness. The cabin was spacious, clean, and well equipped. We hope to stay again in future!
