Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Your cottage was quaint and very peaceful. It was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. It had a beautiful view over the bay which we enjoyed fully on the one sunny day we had! Would definitely return again
We had a wonderful time staying at Hillside Cottage. The home itself is very cosy and the views are wonderful.
Thanks to Margaret and Barry for a very easy and comfortable stay.
The cottage is as described and if anything the photos don't do the views justice from the rear garden. We had some lovely meals relaxing in the garden watching the sun set or during the day. The garden is very well tended and full of flowers and bees.
The cottage is very centrally located in Ballycotton and a max 5 min walk to the shore or shops and about 10 mins to the pier. The cottage was as described and very clean. We were a family of 2 adults, a toddler and a baby and it was a bit of a squeeze getting a cot to fit but it worked out lovely.
The weather was not great when we were there so we had to turn on the heat - but the heating system is great and the cottage heats up very fast. The beds and sheets were particularly comfortable.
It is a gorgeous area - would recommend Pier 26 for food & the fish and chip cafe on the main street in Ballycotton, the farmer's market in Midleton was one of the best we've ever been to - amazing food, Ballymaloe House, Kilkenny design centre (if only to sit in the glazed area at the back - stunning views over the bay), the cliff walk in Ballycotton, rockpool fishing in Ballycotton, the trip to the lighthouse in Ballycotton, the beach between Ballycotton and Ballyvoe, Stephen Pearce studio in Shanagarry (gorgeous outdoor sitting area with cafe). And that was just over 3 days!
We had to work out the electricity and heating usage as its based on a fair use policy and ended up overpaying but Barbara corrected us straight away and posted the refund the next day.
Barry and Margaret offer to provide a basic food/ supplies pack. We didn't take them up on it as we forgot to so had a quick trip to the shops to pick up some basics.
We had a great time and look forward to returning.
Would definitely recommend staying at Hillside.
We were amazed with the views from the back yard and took some amazing photos of sunset. A wonderful cozy cottage just right for a family of four. We also enjoyed the quaint village of Ballycotton.
