Diana and Joel
As it turned our Diana and her husband were away, and their neighbor greeted me. She was pleasant and showed me to my room, which was appointed as shown in the picture. Early the next day, I met Diana's daughter and she was delightful. If you choose to stay in Diana's place, I found it more convenient to take the 3 train out of Penn Station to the Barclay's Center and walk along 5th Ave to 1st Street. It's fun walk.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable, the street quiet and the ceiling fan does it's job silently throughout the night. The rules of the house are few and pretty simple to follow.
Aside from my two short interactions with my sit-in host and Diana's daughter, I had no other interaction, which suited me.
At some point or another, I recall having a hard time believing I was in NY. Brooklyn is eclectic, not perhaps as eclectic as it once was, but it has enough local color to still be interesting. If you enjoy bourbon there is a wonderful bar around the corner on 5th called Pork Slope. The best selection on bourbon I have come upon in a long, long time.
One word of warning, Park Slope is not a slope, it's a hill...many, many hills, most of which are is inundated with more baby carriages per square foot than any place on earth. This is not exaggeration, I have never seen so many baby carriages being pushed by nannies, housekeepers, mothers juggling yoga mats, cell phones, dogs on leashes and, of course, some wildly expensive baby carriage.
Diana is a warm, kind, and all around lovely host. The place itself was even nicer than it appeared in the listing, and the area is a LOT of fun! I would recommend it in an instant to anyone wanting to stay in Brooklyn.
Park Slope is really the area to be in if you want to stay in Brooklyn. Lot's of restaurants to choose from, a nice park nearby, many bars and easy to catch the Metro to Manhattan. Diana is an absolutely wonderful host. She helped us out with anything we needed and is very easy to get along with. The room suited us perfectly - clean and nice. We highly recommend this place.
The stay at Diana's and Joel's was fantastic and we had such a wonderful stay. The area was spacious and generous and we had our own privacy. There was a handy welcoming book with useful information of local areas to visit and nice restaurants to eat at which we found highly useful. The area is very convenient and surrounded by nice local restaurants with fantastic food which is what we were looking for. The hosts had put a lot of effort to make sure the guests feel welcomed and enjoyed their stay. Diana and Joel are wonderful hosts and we highly recommend to stay at their place and we look forward to revisiting them soon!
What a delightful stay! Diana is a wonderful host and made me feel very comfortable. Since I was visiting family in the area, I had no need for a kitchen. This proved to be the perfect solution. Quiet, private, very clean. Highly recommended. Thanks again Diana. ❤️
Diana's brownstone space was comfortable, clean, and as described in the listing. Diana was a great host; very friendly and communicative. The great location made getting around very convenient during our trip and I would definitely recommend staying there.
