Other things to note
Workers Tavern was first opened around 1906 by Finnish Socialists surrounding the Union Packing Company Seafood Company. In 1921, the Workers Cafe was sold to William and Daisy Still, two Finnish socialists who may have made periodic trips to Canada during prohibition to keep the cafe stocked with beer. William was known as quite the gambler as well and periodically threw memorable Anniversary parties with $100 prizes in the 1930s. Parked in its central location in historic Uniontown, also known as Finntown, it’s been serving the local fishermen and loggers of Astoria for over 100 years. It’s survived the Great Depression, WWI and WWII, Korea, Vietnam, yuppies and hipsters. It’s a true dive bar with stories that go far beyond this Airbnb ad.
