A delightful host and a superb location for an independent couple. Nicholas was both helpful and punctual with out arrival and departure. We wanted to be independent and just spend as much time out and about as possible. Nicholas made some great suggestions and provided us with breakfast and coffee. This was an ideal place to stay. Thank you!
Nice location and very close to a few metro stops.
We had a nice stay with Nicolas in Paris! He was very thorough in explaining every thing, and had a variety of food for breakfast for us to choose what we wanted. The bed was comfy and bath/shower combo was very nice. The toilet room was small, but worked fine for us.
We plan to stay again on our return to Paris! Thanks for everything! See you next month, Nicolas!
I would rate this B&B as follows: the location - excellent; the apartment - good; the host - needs improvement.
Its location is very close to the tourist sites, brand name shopping, restaurants, and the Metro.
The apartment itself is well-maintained, but we found our experience in the property was less than ideal. My daughter and I booked a private room but expected a certain level of privacy. We were surprised to find out that we have to share the bathroom with the host who was in the apartment all the time. It would have been alright if there were keys to the bedroom and the bathroom, but there weren’t any. Although we realize that Airbnb fosters a sense of trust between host and guest, it would have still been nice to know that we had security as we used the bathroom and bedroom.
We also had to share the small living space, where we ate breakfast, with our host. He sat in the living room where he watched French TV all day, which we didn’t understand. We had little to no opportunities to watch TV, as it he was constantly using it.
Our bedroom was of a good size and the bed was comfortable. It was advertised as having a lot of storage space, although almost an entire wall is taken up by our host’s clothes and shoes. This part of the room was not shown in the pictures posted on AirBnB.
I noticed Nicolas not to be as solicituous and amiable as we had hoped: While we appreciate that he tried to accommodate our last-minute schedule change, when we got lost and arrived 30 minutes late, he was clearly displeased and showed impatience.
We asked for his advice regarding transportation to the airport due to the heavy bags we had to carry around when using the Metro. He quickly said that taxi is too expensive, and to just take the train. We later found out through an internet search that a short 3 blocks away is the pick-up point of the airport shuttle. We found it strange that he did not mention this, nor did he bother to offer to research on it to help us.
We had a tense discussion regarding the shortening of our stay by one day. We thought it would be possible to get a refund but he insisted that we would not. Frankly, I do not mind so much whether a refund was going to be given or not; what I did not appreciate was that instead of trying to find solutions or apologizing that arrangements did not work out as expected, he continuously insisted it was our fault.
My advice is, if all you need in Paris is place in a good location, just somewhere to sleep at night, this property could serve your needs. If what you prefer is a host who would be sensitive to your needs, while being welcoming and gracious, you may want to look somewhere else.
- Armi admitted her 10 year old daughter did the booking .... therefore she cannot complain the appartment is not what she expected...: ex number of bathroom is properly advertized....
- I love the airbnb concept: meeting different people from different cultures.
This explains why I do this and why I get so many comments on the site telling I like providing tips and advice on where to go....
This being said I cannot understand people not saying hello in the morning.....
Finally yes during bank hollidays I am at home not at work....
When we arrive within the prescribed time, we were welcomed with a lecture from the host due to the fact that we used a different mode of transport to what he had recommended, that was after we were told to take our shoes off at the door. we had been travelling all morning and wasn't prepared for that greeting, we stayed in our room after we had dinner out as we didn't feel comfortable being in the lounge, which we weren't invited to do anyway, although he did show us where everything was that we needed to know.
He was kind enough to phone a taxi for us the following morning, The rules to get to his apartment was not advertised on the web his and the building tenants requirments on arrival.
