Located just minutes from the Mukilteo ferry and the charming sea town of Langley, our little organic hobby farm nestled beneath old evergreens offers convenient respite.
Interact with sassy swan-like sebastopol geese (they love apples!) or a kaleidoscope of 50ish chickens, two roosters and our most recent additions: two brother goats named Frank and Petunia.
Groomed trails lead to a 100 acre nature preserve managed by our neighbors The Whidbey Institute that we call the "100 Aker Wood".
The space
Planning a family reunion or large group gathering? We have four cottage cabins available on our farm. Each unique cottage cabin offers the same awesome farm birds, goats, campfire, trails and private bath suites. Some bath suites are en suite, others are a short stroll from their cabin. All are decorated with individuality and all boast heated toilet seats, soaking tubs, and oodles of sparkly vintage chandeliers too, of course!

As for this space…Situated on the west side of our little three acre organic hobby farm, the Mother Goose Cabin is a rustic building of reclaimed old-growth barn boards featuring a 10 x 12 open room with a ladder up to a sleeping loft large enough for 2 adults on good speaking terms.
Update: Lucky you, Summer Traveler! Whisper quiet air-conditioning has just been installed. Climate-control glamping at its finest :)
Idyllic sunset views of horse pasture framed by ancient weeping willows, pond with Sebastopol geese to the south and a kaleidoscope of chickens in the coop to the north. A little covered porch offers a lovely place ideal for al fresco dining.
To the east of this tiny cabin through The Garden of Woeful Neglect on a dreamily windy reclaimed brick path about 100 picturesque feet away is the Bathhouse which offers a clawfoot soaking tub, heated toilet seat and chandelier, of course. (Your bath suite door is painted maroon red and is visible from your porch.)
Guest access
We happily host children and well-behaved leashed-at-all-times dogs. Enjoy full access to the farm animals and trails.
The bonfire area and guest laundry closet (which features a super cool laundry machine that is both a washer and dryer) is shared with other guests.
Each of our three cabins are completely private with its own outdoor space equipped with a propane bbq grill and are guest only accessed.
Other things to note
Whidbey Island is notorious for weak cell signals.
Wind storms can cause power outages...though we are fully prepared with a generator and lumberjack ;)
Buildings are of lovingly reclaimed materials... windows may be drafty. Propane heaters are in place but temperatures can fluctuate. Quilts and warm cups of tea are in abundance.
Some degree of athleticism is required to climb the ladder to the sleeping loft! (Was originally planned to be a hay loft.) The loft bed space is open on the end with the ladder and is NOT safe for small children. Below the loft is plenty of room for your travel crib and the little couch is suitable for small children (if you can keep them from climbing the ladder). Again, if you co-sleep with your small child, please do not book this cabin. Rather, look at our other airbnb listing located just across the field: The Christopher Robin Writer's cabin. Same awesome farm birds, campfire, trails & private soaking tub w chandelier, of course....but with a much bigger bed and two toddler-sized beds (cleverly disguised as a vintage daybed) all on one level for super easy, comfy and safe family sleeping!
Please let us know if you are bringing children or a dog so that we may wrangle up the birds into their enclosures before you arrive.
Speaking of children, we have young ones. Though we have instructed our littlest hosts to not bother our new "friends", if unsolicited bear hugs or visits are offensive, this is probably not the right place for you.
Please let us know if you would like the TV/DVD player in your cabin.
Usual check-in is at 4pm; check-out at Noon. An early check-in or a late checkout can sometimes be accommodated. Feel free to ask.
Unless you request otherwise, you gather your own eggs for breakfast. Nesting boxes are located outside of the chicken run beneath the canopy. Just lift either lid and move the ladies to the side. (Watch out for the black & white polkadotted one with the punk hairdo...she has a little attitude. Covering the back of your hand with a sleeve will be enough protection from her pecks.)
Eggs will be all colors...green, blue, pink, chocolate, cream, freckled! Yolks will be dark yellow to orange. (Color varies depending on their foraged diet which is supplemented with Organic only feed.)
Got organic left overs? Toss apple scraps over the pond fence to the geese. Non-citrus produce scraps to the chickens.
Warning: sitting by the firepit with a snack could mean chickens hopping into your lap!!
Please note: At dusk, we herd the geese into their "bedroom" (which shares a cabin wall) by telling them "Go to Bed!" They often squawk loudly in protest. Their "bedroom" door is located near a cabin window and is closed by one of us each night. (Not a prowler!!) Throughout the night, you may also hear rustling of goose feathers or their beaks tapping on the shared wall.
This isn't a place for fancy city shoes! The chickens and geese are not potty trained. Rain makes for lots of muddy puddles which are highly recommended by the duck.
