Catherine and Marc are wonderful hosts! They met us at the apartment and provided us with very helpful information for our stay. They even gave us a nice box of toast, jams, cookies, and other goodies.
After they left, we had trouble finding the switch for the ceiling fan. I texted them for assistance. Rather than texting back, they returned in person to help us, which was very nice! Note: the switch is in a somewhat secret place, so it's best to ask them before they leave :)
The place is true to the reviews. We slept in the cavern bedroom down the stairs. There was a little noise from the disco next door our first night (Saturday) but nothing after that. Earplugs are provided but we didn't need them.
Also, the spiral stairs down to the bedroom and bathroom are as described - narrow and winding. But take it slow and you should be fine.
All in all, a great place to stay in Tours - full of personality, comfortable, and very close to the Place Plumereau, which has many options for eating, drinking, and shopping, or just hanging out. The late night dining was very helpful when we returned one night from a Chaplin show at the Cinemas Studio.
We'd love to stay here again next time we're in Tours!
Fantastic flat right in the heart of town. Literally steps away from Place Plumereau. There was a discoteque right next door, so guests staying in the loft or on the futon may experience street noise BUT you are in the heart of town, so what else would you expect? Catherine provided free ear plugs to help with this along with some snacks, coffee etc.
Catherine provided a very detailed introduction to the place which was easy to find, and she as a host was fantastic - easy to get a hold of, spoke English very well, was very accommodating and helpful! Wifi worked like a charm, but there was no cell phone reception especially downstairs (as expected when in a cave!). Full kitchen (yes, FULL) which is rare in Europe and the only thing missing...cork screw! I can't comment on the proximity to local transportation as we drove. Street parking was metered but Catherine gave us a very extensive map to different car parks in the area - again SO helpful!
Two things to note in case it is not clear to all:
There is one bathroom, and it is downstairs off the 'cave' bedroom so guests staying upstairs will need to traverse the spiral staircase and go through the cave bedroom to get to it (wasn't a problem at all for us but may be for some)
The spiral staircase down to the cave bedroom is so characteristic of this place - we loved it and it is perfectly do-able for any able bodied person. However it should be taken with care if you have a suitcase or are challenged in your mobility as the stairwell is a bit tight, and approx. 10-15 stairs down. (again didn`t bother us, but some might want to know).
All in all a wonderful stay for the duration of my sister`s wedding. If we were to go back to Tours, we would absolutely stay here again! Thank you Catherine so much for your hospitality, we hope your family continues to be happy, healthy, and successful!

Thank you for all your very constructive and useful feedback for us. We always try to help and receive as best as possible our guests and make them feel at home but on vacation!
But effectively, for french people, in a region of wines, a house without cork screw is unforgivable ! so sorry !!!!
Welcome back to your country than we hope to visit no doubt one day ...
This was a great place to stay in Tours. Incredibly central and close to many different attractions in the city. The host was very accommodating and happily helped us out when we arrived early.
Overall, a pleasant stay. I would highly recommend this place. However, if you are older and don't like spiral staircases then this isn't the place for you.
