Our guests are blessed to be in the middle of downtown Ojai - Here are a few highlights: Check out "A Taste Of Ojai" on Vimeo
We see our guests from time to time if we are home, so our interaction is basically on the guests' terms :)
We are in the middle of EVERYTHING! We are literally the middle of all the downtown maps (sometimes I have to open them extra-wide to find our street) and we have very friendly neighbors. If you bring your friendly, well-behaved, cat-friendly dog, you will find that you can take him/her just about anywhere with you. DOG OWNERS MAY NOT INSTANT BOOK, please message me with your details and dates so we can open a chat.
The Ojai Trolley ($1) has two stops within a block from the house and the Gold Coast Vista bus ($1.75 for adults) stops two blocks away, in case you would like to go to/from Ventura or the train station there.
Enjoy yourselves! Relax, park the car and leave it there for your whole stay! Let us know if you have any questions!
Kitchen, own bath, short walk to downtown, or lounge around on your own.
We enjoy visiting but respect your privacy :)
Downtown Ojai is a great place to live and we have a friendly, family oriented, creative neighborhood.

A few days prior to my arrival Maya was available both through email and text even though she was out of town at the time. She gave me some instructions regarding lights, switches and name of the person who would be greeting me. Because my training was ending earlier than the 4:00 check-in, I inquired if I may arrive earlier and she willingly agreed since the space was clean and available. Upon arrival I was greeted and was given a quick tour. During my 2 day stay I was able to unwind in this quaint, nurturing space with beautiful plants, flowers, trees and birds. Maya had left me a friendly welcome note and everything I needed was available including washer/dryer, heater in bedroom/bath, refrigerator and plenty of linens etc. For me it was a sanctuary and perfect for what I needed after completing a 10 day teacher training. Maya also left a container of essential oil/herbal infused salt for a bath. The location was just a few blocks from the main downtown area shops and restaurants which was perfectly convenient since I did not have a car. The pictures are accurate except there is now a futon in the backyard which was useful to comfortably rest/work/read outside. The bed, linens and comfortable were so comfortable. I definitely recommend this space for quiet solitude or romantic getaway.
Even though my girlfriend and I never got to meet Maya, everything was perfect - from the seamless check in to the quality of the property. The uniqueness of the property makes it the perfect Ojai experience. It is well maintained and quite beautiful in layout and artistic touches. The cat that hangs around (Beale) is also quite fun and a pleasure to have around :)
We LOVED this space so much!! SO creative and fun incensed with the mana of Hawaii! Maya and Robert are excellent hosts and all around amazing people! The location is walking distance to the downtown and just a few minutes drive from everything else. Ojai is amazing and this place and this cottage just enhanced the whole overall experience! We will definitely visit them again! I highly recommend this space! Thank you Maya, Robert, and Beale
Maya was a very nice and friendly host. Her cottage was beautiful, comfortable and clean. We really appreciated her recommendations and guidebook, which helped us make the most of our time in Ojai. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend staying in her cottage!
Maya was awesome. She let me rent her space for a few hours for a quick photo shoot. It was last minute and maya was more than accommodating. And the space is so beautiful. One of my favorite places in Ojai.
This sweet little bungalow is unique and special. It is unlike any place you will ever stay (in a very good way). The outdoor kitchen area is a delight (nothing like cooking dinner and washing up in the open air) and the bedroom is cozy and warm. The clawfoot bathtub and sink cut into an old school elementary school desk all help add to the rustic charm. Maya and Robert are accommodating and gracious hosts. We really enjoyed their company too. Super conveniently located to beautiful downtown Ojai, you'd be crazy not to book here.
Maya and Robert are warm, friendly, and delightful. They made themselves available for any request. They even brought me fresh squeezed orange juice from their own tree when I was feeling a little low.
The cottage is charming, just like the photos. It's small, but the outdoor kitchen gives it a nice additional dimension, like you're visiting Thailand in the middle of a small town in California. When it's cold outside, the outdoor kitchen is a little annoying, HOWEVER, most days it was sunny and beautiful, even in January, and on those days the outdoor kitchen was beyond charming. It was amazing! Extremely charming place overall, I immediately missed it when I left :)

I'm a wedding planner/floral designer from the last small beach town in Southern California. My husband Robert is an amazing artist (he built the beds you'll be sleeping in and did most of the artwork you will find on the property) designer and sculptor, and he is a highly skilled massage/bodywork therapist with clients ranging from professional athletes to those in wheelchairs - and everyone in between! Please let us know if you would like to book a massage with him.
We love: Traveling (Hawaii is a big one, as we have family there, but we have been to Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, England, Thailand, Cambodia, Costa Rica ...to name a few) the beach, watersports, volleyball, art, music, (good) design, Pixar movies, gardening (well, ONE of us does...I am much better at working with cut flowers..). We love traveling in the States as well, our big favorites are exploring our home California coast, San Francisco, Hawaii, Yosemite, Aspen Valley in Colorado, and the beaches anywhere we can find them.
Things I can't live without: English Tea, the latest book I'm reading, Thai or Indian (read: SPICY!) food, tempranillo, viognier, champagne, dark chocolate, my husband, Radiohead, our kitty Smalls/Bittle/Beale (she's not picky) my iPhone. Not in that order.
We spend quite a bit of time working on our 1927 California cottage house....Most recently, we added beautiful stone to our front porch and stairs. It gets nicer all the time here, so come on back, something is sure to be different! Please ask if you like something, it may be available for purchase! As hosts, we love to give local recommendations, tips and things to do, but are also mindful of your vacation needs, which may simply be for some much-needed down time.
