Right in front the building's main entrance there are millenarian roman ruins, what used to be Barcelona's Gate, and now part of a cultural center. On the Middle Age, the building was a surveillance tower from which guards controlled people's entrance. There's even still a tiny chapel for travelers from that time. The actual building was built in 1865 and the apartment, which is historically listed, was completely redesigned and refurbished on the Summer of 2011.
The apartment is extremely quiet thanks to the double-glass windows, although the street gets pretty busy w/ tourists during the day. There's a reason for that. This unique place is next to Barcelona's City Hall and in a really short-walking distance (less than 10min) from Las Ramblas, Liceu, La Catedral, plaça Sant Jaume, Plaça Reial, beach and Port Vell, Plaça Catalunya and the hip neighborhood of Born. Just check the map! Thanks to its location, you will be very close to many of the best restaurants in town, nightclubs and theaters that we're willing to recommend to you. We love food and culture so you can trust us on this!
Given the fact that the apartment is 2min walk away from Barcelona's City Hall (the entrance used to be in this same street), you'll always see policemen around. This is a very safe spot in the city, perfect for families that want to be in the city-center without the noisy nights.

We stayed at Ona and Eduard's apartment for 10 days at the beginning of this year and loved every minute of it. The apartment is even more gorgeous in real life than in the pictures, and is in a perfect location. We stayed there with two teenage children, and it was a great place to rest our weary legs at the end of the day (with a few wii games for the kids for their r&r), and then go out again for dinner in the evening! Ona was extremely helpful and a great communicator. Thanks very much for having us!
thank you so much for all your suggestions and useful information you provided for us. The apartment was really fantastic, location could not have been better. Your brother was very welcoming. Brooklyn was a lovely addition to our Barcelona experience. I would have no hesitation in recommended your apartment to any of my friends that are lucky enough to be travelling to your beautiful city.
Good location, great host, cute cat. The best place for cat lover. Thanks Ona.
Excellent flat in the heart of the Gothic quarter and on one of the better streets. Everything we could have asked for was in the flat, Ona was really helpful and made sure that we had everything covered including a detailed handbook with some great recommendations!
The flat is in a perfect area. It is clean, beatiful and very close to the main sights of this magnificent city.
Ona is a perfect owner. Very comunicative and present.
Thank you for everything.
We stayed in Ona's beautiful home for a month and a half. We were constantly pinching ourselves as we could not believe just how perfect everything was. The location in the picturesque Gotic could not be better: just footsteps away from great restaurants (try Mirrella and Pla), bars, live music (Side Door and Harlem Jazz Club), grocery stores, bakeries, and a cupcake place that claims to make the world's best cookies (and I agree!) as well as a short walk to the beach, the Ramblas, amazing vintage stores, the metro, and great museums. Ona's place is on one of the most picture-perfect and charming streets of the Gotic. Though it’s close to all the great sites, the street is very quiet with little traffic, many great local hang outs and feels a world away from the tourist traps selling bad and over-priced paella. The apartment is just fabulous. It's very large (with incredibly high ceilings), stylish and cozy. If you are a foodie, the kitchen is a major bonus as it is fully equipped and is a true delight to cook in. On top of all of this, Ona was an absolutely wonderful host. She provided us with great advice on places to eat, drink and play. She was welcoming, flexible and so considerate. She thoughtfully provides everything you need for a perfect stay (local guide books, a Nepresso coffee machine, a great DVD selection, washer and dryer, lint remover…I could go on for ever!). If you are not a cat person, Brooklyn, Ona's pet, will convert you. He is very sweet, playful, low maintenance and just plain lovable.
In short, this place is a catch. We adored every second of our stay in Barcelona because of this because apartment and our great host. If you have the opportunity to stay here, take it!!!
Silvia's brother Eduardo greeted us when we arrived. We didn't get to actually meet Silvia but she was very responsive when we had questions about the area and apartment. The apartment was large, clean, and had all the appliances you needed (including a blowdryer).
The apartment is located in a very safe area in the old town. The area was very conveniently located and was walking distance from Las Rambras. It was a very quite at night. The apartment does have a cat named Brooks who was very low maintenance and very friendly. We would definitely stay in the apartment again in the future and would recommend it to everyone!
My parents stayed in this amazing apt for 5 days. Clean design, elegance and cleanliness. Ona and her brother Eduard have been communicative and very helpful. Brooklyn, her cat, is adorable. The only bad thing is about the entrance of the building (is very old and unkempt) but as soon as you enter in the apt everything is perfect. Thank you guys ;-)
I stayed in Ona's apartment with my two girlfriends for about 11 days and we had an AMAZING time. We would absolutely stay here again if we ever return to Barcelona! Ona was very helpful and available by email prior to our trip to help with any of our travel questions. Upon arrival, Alex met my friend promptly with the key, and at check-out, Ona's brother was also very prompt. All three were very personable and friendly, as well.
The apartment itself is lovely- just like the photos! It was spacious for three of us, quiet all day and night, and very clean and comfortable. Also, the location was phenomenal, as we could walk pretty much anywhere from museums to shops to the beach to restaurants... And the subway and taxi stand were also a short work for any longer trips.
Thank you, Ona, for a fabulous stay!
This apartment is really perfect. Wonderful location, central to everything you want to experience in Barcelona. The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, all the tourist sites are close by. We walked everywhere and only after one day of extreme sight seeing and walking, we were tired and took the metro home to save our feet! It is a large apartment, there were 3 of us staying and we had plenty of room. The kitchen is well equipped and there are grocery stores nearby so you can cook delicious meals at home and save a little money. We barely had an issue with the dryer and Ona and Alex came by straight away to take a look at it. Great experience and I'm sure you would be happy to stay here too! Brooklyn the cat is beautiful, but I wouldn't stay here if you are unsure about cats. Myself, I don't mind them but have never experienced living with one before, so it took a little getting used to. Otherwise, he is pretty maintenance free.
