Interaction with Guests
3 other rooms in the apartment are rented on this site. You may have interactions with other guests in the common areas. I work very long days so you may only see me on occasion. My roommate Dave is home more often, he serves as a host when I am not available. You can view my other rooms under the "Other Listings" section.
The neighborhood is a Puerto Rican immigrant community. Mixed with old gritty industrial areas and new luxury buildings. All kinds of creative types have been filing into Bushwick and a considerable amount of trendiness is trickling in from its ultra-hip neighbor to the west, Williamsburg. New dive bars, bodegas, and gallery spaces continue to flourish, fueled by the intrepid movers and shakers that are pouring into Bushwick’s converted loft spaces. Although Bushwick is busy reinventing itself, a somewhat grungy heart still beats beneath its remodeled exterior. The Neighborhood Is Very Safe. I have been here for 10 years without any issues. My guests have never had any issues as well. There are many people around on the streets at all hours. We are right next to the train for those who are out late in the evening as well.
We are 1 block away from the Dekalb stop L train, 15 minutes to the city and a few blocks away from the JMZ train. USE HOPSTOP FOR SUBWAY DIRECTIONS! It is also available as an app. This will tell you much more clear detailed instructions on getting here from the airport and getting around the city in general. The house is approximately: 20 minutes away from LaGuardia Airport 25 minutes away from JFK Airport 35-45 minutes away from Newark Airport (these are average times with minimal traffic)

Mark sent detailed instructions before we checked in explaining in detail how we were to find the keys etc. He checked with us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed and each day thereafter. Any questions we had , we just texted him and he replied immediately. The room was clean and comfortable with tons of closet space, clean towels and the bathroom was right next door. The neighborhood was as described - we loved the coffee shop on the corner and felt very safe arriving "home" in the middle of the night . The L-train is right around the corner which takes you straight into the city!
I had a great time, it was easy to find and literally in the middle of 2 subway stops that get you to Manhattan. The green room is wonderful, you have access to a nice backyard garden. The bed was more than ok, I normally don't have trouble with beds unless they're too soft. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the apartment door is a little hard to open, just some extra maneuvering needed. But otherwise a pleasant stay! Also, a perk that I didn't expect was towels! Towels were provided.
We had a great stay at Mark's in Brooklyn. His directions on getting in were clear and easy and the room was just as described. Quiet, spacious and clean. The garden was lovely!
Location was great - close to the subway and just steps from a great cafe. Parking right out front was a breeze.
Very nice place, well located with easy access to subway, nice area with nice coffee and good food, beautiful green backyard Appartement and room super clean and Mark is available and very nice.
Wer New York besuchen will, sollte ein Zimmer bei Mark buchen. Absolut empfehlenswert. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.
Who wants to took a room in New York, will be comfortable with Mark. We have enjoyed the benefits: room with garden access and a short walk to the subway. For breakfast a "hipster"-Café - with homemade coffee - around the corner. And Brooklyn as a living and emerging neighborhood. Mark is a really nice guy. He was always available. Absolute recommended. We'll be back.

About the Host, Mark
I am an artist originally from Rhode Island. I have been living in Bushwick for over 10 years. My roommate/friend Dave is a musician and here to help when I am not available. As a host I like make myself available if needed but otherwise try to give all guests their privacy.
