Some frequently asked questions, and the answers:
Q – Are sheets and such provided?
A – Yes, bedding is provided. If you need more (say an extra blanket or comforter) just ask. We suggest you bring your own towels, though we have some available.
Q – Is it safe?
A – Yes. Your room has a deadbolt lock. The property is gated. The neighborhood is safe and well patrolled by the police. There are probably more people actually walking around this neighborhood than anywhere else in LA. One of the few places other than downtown where you will actually encounter a crowded sidewalk.
Q – Is it central?
A – Yes, kind of. Remember what Gertrude Stein said about Los Angeles “There’s no there there.” Well, it is still fairly true. LA is very spread out and not a centralized city: if you are close to one area, you are by definition far from another. The location is between Hollywood and Downtown and it is easy to get to either because of the nearby subway.

First about the hosts: Ryan (and Kelly) were great hosts. Very responsive with great communication. There were several reservation changes that were requested a couple of weeks prior to my arrival which made me kind of nervous.. but it is totally understood because I was only staying for one night but he had guests that needed to stay long-term. I appreciate him letting me know and accommodating the changes very smoothly.
Second about the location: Great location. I was looking for a place near ktown and it was just ideal. Pretty safe area. Near good food places.
Third about the accommodation: very clean. The sheets, blankets and pillows were delivered to us straight from laundry and I could tell they were clean b/c the fabric softeners were still stuck on the blankets! (I bet hotels don't even wash them thoroughly..) Bathrooms and kitchens very clean and neatly maintained.
I would definitely come again!
Ryan's place was excellent for my stay in LA for 4 weeks. 2 minutes to the metro station and situated in a fairly quiet neighbourhood. Has all the amenities you need, kitchen/two bathrooms/wifi/iron etc. It's not glamorous, but if you are here to travel LA on a small budget, you can't get much better for the price. I'll definitely be back again.
The house is very nice, clean, big and quiet. The room is comfortable.Kelly is friendly.I didn't meet Ryan yet.The area is nice.I recommend this apartment for your vacation.
Die Lage ist Super für LA. Unterkunft ist einfach aber hat gut gepasst.
We didn't meet Ryan, but one of his roommates made us feel very welcome at their cool space - they are professionals and the house is rather a kind of warm and friendly hostel. We asked for a third bed and they were able to give us a mattress without any trouble, same goes for parking space. Thanks for having us stay with you!
we had great holiday in this hostel.
they have a good kitchen, room and bathroom!
And all of customers there!
The host accepted us on very short notice, which was wonderful as we were LA bound with no accommodation. Communication was great also, very prompt. The house was fine, very secure with locked gates front and back, locking doors front and back as well as locks (and deadbolts) on individual rooms. The host was really nice to deal with as were other guests staying there at the time. The place was clean and tidy although our room had a slightly peculiar smell to it which was kind of a disinfectant smell with a mustiness underneath! It was bearable for the few days we stayed anyway! The neighbourhood seemed fine despite the high security of the house. The neighbourhood is mostly Spanish or Korean speaking so it was a little difficult to go supermarket shopping in the area but it was fun to try new things. There looked to be some great Korean restaurants around which I would have liked to try if I'd had more time. Also it was easy to get into downtown LA by bus and they ran pretty late too.
Overall the place runs pretty much like a hostel, the two bathrooms are plenty for everyone although beware you will only be given one toilet roll per room so you may need to hang onto your own rather than leave it in the bathroom! The house is not as clean as a hostel would be, but then there are no housekeeping staff to keep it immaculate so fair enough. I would probably stay here again should I return to LA. Thanks for having me!
My friends and I had a great time staying at Ryan's place! The place was really clean and nice. The location is perfect for exploring both downtown and Hollywood. Additionally, the price of Ryan's room is unbeatable! I'd definitely stay here again.
