Other Things to Note
Some frequently asked questions, and the answers:
Q – Are sheets and such provided?
A – Yes, bedding is provided. If you need more (say an extra blanket or comforter) just ask. We suggest you bring your own towels, though we have some available.
Q – Is it safe?
A – Yes. Your room has a deadbolt lock. The property is gated. The neighborhood is safe and well patrolled by the police. There are probably more people actually walking around this neighborhood than anywhere else in LA. One of the few places other than downtown where you will actually encounter a crowded sidewalk.
Q – Is it central?
A – Yes, kind of. Remember what Gertrude Stein said about Los Angeles “There’s no there there.” Well, it is still fairly true. LA is very spread out and not a centralized city: if you are close to one area, you are by definition far from another. The location is between Hollywood and Downtown and it is easy to get to either because of the nearby subway.
If you have stayed in a hostel before, you probably already know what to expect. You have one of four rooms. We will provide you with clean bedding and toilet paper on the first day, but after that you do your own laundry (washer and dry on site). Your toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc...) are provided by you. Sure, if you need something or lost something, we will help you out, just ask. But in general you bring your own stuff. (There are a number of markets a short walk from the room.)
The common areas (kitchen and bathrooms) are cleaned weekly, but you are expected to clean up after yourself, and to do so immediately after using the area. If any common area is messy, contact me immediately and we will take care of it, no problem. (I live next door.) We do not always check the common areas everyday, so please, if something is not right, let me know. I want to know. I will take care of it :)
You have your own private room; however, the bathrooms and kitchen are shared. There are four private rooms per unit. Thus it is necessary to respect others wishes, which means:
1) No smoking inside. Please smoke outside. There is a back patio and a front porch.
2) No parties.
3) No loud music or such.
If you have a problem with someone leaving the common areas dirty, smoking, loud noise, etc.... let us know immediately, and we will take care of it right away.
We are happy to help and advise, but basically we will leave you alone unless you ask. It is a great room for the price, and you cannot do better for access to public transport.
The location is great with easy access to the metro system, upon arrival Kelly gave great advice on how to get about and was overall a great host.
Kelly has a well maintained place very close to the downtown. The apartment is located in a good neighborhood and is affordable. She was very helpful, when we said that our fan wasn't working at 11.00 pm, she came and fixed it immediately. The room is very spacious with required facilities.
As expected! In walking distance to the metro/bus. Safe and quite area in Koreatown!
Kelly was punctual when we checked in. The unit looks a little old, but everything is clean. The neighborhood felt safe and is super-convenient, so we parked our car on the property and traveled mostly by foot and public transit. Check-out is also a breeze. I would definitely come back.
Area is adjacent to Koreatown and everything needed can be found close by. The stay was quiet comfortable and Kelly waited for us late into the night for checking us in. The place is pretty nice to crash for a couple of days with all you need readily available. It accommodates 2 guests comfortably. Bed are not very comfortable but we did not expect anything more. However parking during weekends is a nightmare. Since we came in very late into the night, the parking spots were almost full everywhere.
The room is as listed and it was clean and comfortable. Kelly was helpful in assisting me to sort airport transfers and in answering questions. The level of cleanliness of the bathroom was disappointing but the overall stay was satisfactory.
