The Space

As any Queen will tell you the best rooms are always at the back of the palace. "The Fountain” is no exception. Positioned behind and connected to one of the most chic addresses in Buenos Aires, The Alvear Palace. The apartment has direct private access into the Alvear Palace Arcade and direct views into the Palace gardens and fountain. A short walk away is Evita herself in the Recoleta cemetery and the many bars and restaurants of this exclusive neighborhood.
Location location is always the key in real estate and often means a compromise on the accommodation but not in this case. "The Fountain" apartment offers space, light and tranquility being positioned away from street and traffic noise; with decoration to make you feel part of old Buenos Aires society.
Two double bedrooms with built in wardrobes, the master bedroom comes with a full bathroom the other smaller bedroom has an small wet room ,both bedrooms are positioned either side of the gallery lounge, offering total independence and privacy from each other. Both suites have views through the floor to ceiling sliding windows out on to the palace courtyard garden. A spacious lounge with two seating areas lends itself for relaxing with a movie or an evening of cocktails. If you prefer to stay home than eat out, There is a fully equipped kitchen and dining area to take breakfast or host a special dinner.

  • Perfect location and communication with the team. Some items should be addressed: no paper goods in the kitchen, need extra towels, needed extra blankets, curtains in one of the bedrooms were missing. second shower was not really usable, since the floors would get wet and there was no towels for mapping. The biggest problem was ants in the bedroom.

  • We stayed at the Fountain apartment (in Recoleta) for 10 nights and enjoyed our time there very much. The location is very convenient to the Recoleta Cemetary and other local tourist sites. Lots of great restaurants, cafes and shops nearby -- we walked everywhere.

The apartment is spacious with each of the bedroom on opposite side of the living room. Typical of Argentinian flats, the kitchen is small. However, it has everything you need. Housecleaning came in the middle of our stay (vs. towards the end) which was nice and convenient. A hair dryer, iron and ironing board and extra standing fan are provided in case you may need it. No washer and dryer in the unit, but we managed OK with hand-washing and using one of the corner laundry shops.

A large grocery store is 4 blocks away. Taxis are plenty in front of the building. Victor the doorman is very friendly and helpful. On the corner is a cute cafe/restaurant called La Rambla where the local residents hang out. Opposite to that is a Cuban cigar coffee shop where they make great coffee drinks. Jean Paul Boutique (great French bakery) just around the corner attached to the hotel.

Booking with Ralph and his team was really easy. They are professional and respond in a timely manner, and very good about getting you situated once here.

We had a great experience with Ralph, Tomas and Andres and a fab time in Recoleta, and would recommend to others!

  • This is a lovely property in a great part of town. Very spacious, lots of light and nicely furnished. Communication from Ralf was great and there were no problems at all. One minor complaint was that the AC didn't reach into the common areas and we stayed in a terrible heatwave in the summer so the temperature was slightly uncomfortable. Other than that, a great stay!

  • This was our first AirBnB experience and it was excellent. Ralf is a lovely and responsive host, the apartment was exactly as advertised, and Ralf or his staff were easily available to answer questions. Apt was missing wine bottle opener, Ralf's response - please buy one and I'll reimburse you! Apt itself was quite comfortable, well equipped, and clean. There was a welcome bowl of fruit, and some small condiments in the kitchen, an unexpected surprise. The second bathroom shower is wildly out of control, spraying, which was not a problem for us but would be if you absolutely need two showers. Ralf may be correcting this. They arranged a difficult airport transfer for us, which was most appreciated, and greeted us in person. They allowed us to stay til 6 pm on the day of our checkout, which was so terrific since our flight did not leave til 9:30 pm. The apartment is behind the Alvear Hotel, where the concierge was fantastic, and happy to help us although we were not hotel guests. We loved the location, and the entire experience, would definitely stay there again.

  • Great host, great apartment, great location!
Inward-facing: no grand views, but is quiet and free of street noise.
Apartment has spacious living room with the bedrooms at either end, well separated in case one is sleeping off jetlag.
Ralf and his team - Andres, Tomas, and Marcel - took excellent care of us, from picking us up at the airport and renting us local cell-phones for a modest fee, to getting us settled in the apartment, to quickly fixing minor technical issues (tripped circuit-breaker).
Be sure to have coffee at the Palace Arcade at the 3rd-floor elevator exit, and treat yourself to high tea at the adjacent Alverar Palace Hotel Garden Room!
    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Marcel (Ralf's associate) made sure we had all the information we needed to have a great stay. He informed us of places to see and others to stay away from. He was very thorough.

He also made us aware of common scams used by locals on tourists, including those by taxi drivers. Coincidentally, two different groups of women we met on the trip had been scammed by taxi drivers.

The apartment is a great location in Recoleta.

  • Ralf is a great host and his apartment in Recoleta is superb! The people who work with him are very helpful and friendly, and everyone speaks perfect English. They arranged for a van to pick us up at the airport. Ralf met us in front of the building. He spent over an hour with us answering questions and giving us suggestions.

We stayed there for 2 weeks. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, and 2 1/2 baths. The beds are very comforable (though if you are used to sleeping in an "American" king or queen size bed, they're a bit small.) The apartment is very clean with all the amenities you would want. And if you need anything special, Ralf can make arrangements.

The apartment faces the inside courtyard of the Alvear Palace Hotel so it is extremely quite - no traffic noise at all. It has fast wireless internet, and there's a phone that you can use to make local phone calls, which was very convenient.

The location of his apartment is in one of the nicest areas of the city. It's centrally located and easy to get anywhere you want to go. You can catch a taxi just about anytime right in front of the building or walk 1 block in any direction to find one. We also called for taxi's and never had to wait more that 5 minutes. It's very safe to walk around at night. There is always a doorman at the front door keeping an eye on things, hailing taxi's and opening the door for you.

There's a laundrymat 1/2 block away on Ayacucho that charges about 30 pesos for a load of laundry, and will also do dry cleaning. There are several restaurants and convenience stores within a few blocks.

We will definitely stay here any time we go to B.A. and highly recommend it.

Although a German national, I have actually resided outside of my native country for almost half my life. My first ventured abroad to Greece where I worked in guest relations at a premier hotel in Athens. From there I moved to Sydney, Australia where he held an post as personal assistant to a major politician within the Australian Parliament. Soon, with a desire to be more independent, I followed my instincts and in Sydney I opened, managed and ultimately sold, two very successful natural food and juice bars. It was then, in 2007, When I decided to return to a place which I had visited some years before---BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA---and now, it is the place I call home!
