This is basic, comfortable accommodation on the Isle of Jura with sleeping & relaxing space in the caravan & use of the bathroom in the main house, just 10m away. (No toilet / sink in caravan).

There are no cooking facilities but there is a kettle, toaster & small fridge in caravan.

You can bring bedding & towels or hire from us for £5/person per stay (pay on arrival).

We're in the heart of Craighouse, just 7 mins walk from the pub, shop, distilleries & cafe. Great alternative to camping!

The space
Please make sure you read all of the information in the listing so you understand that this is simple, comfortable accomodation with separate bathroom facilities, no wifi, no heating and no kitchen access (kettle and toaster in caravan and sink for washing up in the back porch of the main house).

The caravan sits alongside our family home and there is a steep track from the road meaning we're close to the action but have lovely views!

It's a caravan and this is Scotland so, whilst it will keep you dry and comfortable, bear in mind that the internal temperature will vary with the season, weather and sometimes even the hour...

We can provide bedding and one towel each for £5 per person (payable on arrival) or you can bring your own sleeping bag / sheets/ duvets and towels.

Check out 10am.

Where you’ll be

Craighouse, Scotland, United Kingdom

6000 deer, 240 people, 3 mountains, 3 distilleries* and 1 pub! Whether it's wildlife, whisky or wonderful walking, Jura is a great place to come for a wee break!

We're situated in Craighouse, which is the island's main village, with the shop, hall, hotel (with pub), distillery, cafe and craft shop in easy walking distance.

The village sits at the south end of Small Isles Bay and is a great base from which to explore:

- take a gentle stroll along the shore and up to the traditional crofting township of Keils;
- check out the photographic exhibition of 'Old Jura';
- cycle to Corran sands spotting seals along the way;
- take a hike up the Paps (this is not for the faint hearted!);
- check out Tea on the Beach;
- visit our whisky, rum and gin distilleries;
- discover the world's 3rd largest whirlpool;
- see where George Orwell wrote 1984;
- check out the local crafts; sample the local whisky;
- take a boat trip;

and then have a well earnt drink in the pub the KLF visited just before they burnt a million quid.

I've travelled from my home in the UK to a few far-flung corners (America, Australia, New Zealand, SEA) and a few places closer to home, but there is still plenty more to see!

I've lived in big cities (Sydney and Glasgow) and small islands (think whisky-making) and have just moved back home to the island.

I'm quite a busy person so, as much as I like meeting new folk, when I am 'home' after a days work / travel, I tend to chill out quietly by myself to recharge my batteries.

We love meeting new people but we're also busy folk so we're happy to greet you and help you out with local knowledge but we're likely to be busy with half a dozen things that should have been done yesterday much of the time, so we'll generally leave you in peace.
