Thanks a lot Mireille for a lovely stay at your apartment. Right in the centre of this charming town, you will feel like home. There was really nothing missing and I would recommend this place especially for couples. I think less suitable for small children.

We are a couple in our early sixties and highly recommend this charming apartment of Mireille and Patrick, in Aix-en Provence, the city of many fountains. In July 2014, we had the pleasure of living there for ten memorable days. We arrived in town before check-in time and Mireille gave us a very warm welcome and kindly allowed us to leave our bags there while she and her daughter cleaned. After lunch, we returned to a spotlessly clean apartment and were given a comprehensive briefing on everything we needed to know about the apartment, a pile of tourist information and a bottle of local wine.
This is a very spacious apartment that balances the charm of a very old building with modern conveniences such as a very well equipped kitchen and laundry. The many cook books give a hint that the owners appreciate fine food and wine and the nearby markets supply a huge range of fresh produce to indulge this passion.
Another insight to the owners' hearts and souls is the many other books (in French) and a few in English to be found lining the shelves throughout the apartment. The decor is French Provencal and exudes understated elegance while being totally practical, comfortable and inviting.
We appreciated the collection of vintage lanterns, the piano, the beautiful pottery pieces and other objets d'art. The music festival was in progress during our summer visit, so there were many tourists enjoying the sights of the historic centre of town and many performers providing music in the street. We loved being able to have the huge French windows open above the street and simply witness the enjoyment of life below.
Because the traffic is predominately pedestrian, we did not find the noises or the music annoying. Occasionally, a motor bike revved through the street and broke the magical spell of the moment. The very spacious bedroom is away from the street and provides a delightful and unusual retreat. I felt as though I was looking out onto a garden from the 'rain' shower in the bathroom, but it is totally private.
The bed was comfortable and the shower provided hot water, but this home provides much more than those hotel basics, it provides a very comfortable and relaxing place of beauty right in the heart of this historic town. It is a short walk to any of the many markets and places of interest as well as the Office of Tourism where you can access day excursions to other areas of Provence, such as wineries, the lavender fields, Monaco and the Riviera, Arles, Avignon etc., etc.
If you are looking for something very special, book this apartment for your next holiday!
Thank you a lot for this nice comments, I am neww on Airnb and Freya, you bring me a real sun in my life. I realy do thank you and your husband for your kindliness, excuse my english, but I did want reply in your langage as a mark of cordiality.
good return to australia.
Aix en Provence is a lovely and inviting city and now having been there for the first time, it’s hard to imagine a better way to fully experience the place than staying in Appartement de Caractère Coeur Cent. Though they would never say it directly, Mireille and Patrick should be very proud of all they have done in updating the apartment to also keep the character of the old building. It’s all a beautifully redone French flat with flower laden balconies overlooking the narrow street below, flooding the living and dining rooms with natural light.
The spacious bed and bathrooms, away from the street, make for wonderfully comfortably sleeping. There are of course exceptions in a city like Aix. We were there during the World Cup when France was playing on a Saturday night bring revelers out in the streets at times and occasionally interrupting sleep, but that too was fun. In sharp contract, the City’s outdoor music festival started filling all of the streets in the area with incredible classical music and opera begging us to listen and sleep later.
Positioned perfectly in “old town”, it’s a five minute walk to the daily out-door market, full of fresh produce, eggs, cheeses, meats and fish. It’s also within minutes walks of great cafes, bistros and restaurants. Having the option of fine fresh foods any time of the day in the flat, or out nearby, is a gift indeed.
Upon our arrival we were personally greeted, briefed, hugged and left to enjoy their city. What more could we ask, except to return soon we hope.
Thank you Mireille and Patrick for offering you apartment. We look forward to another stay.
hello Mary Ellen and Bob
sorry to reply to your nice comment, but I did not know how it works on Airnb, for you were our first guests through Airnb. We have been really happy to receive you and would have to share more time with you, so maybe in San Francisco if we decide a trip in US, which I do not know at all..
Weare pleased you enjoy your stay and one more time thank you a lot for your coming
Mirielle and Patrick
