Large 4 bedroom villa in the middle of seminyak in a quiet gang leading to Bintang supermarket. Nestled amongst former rice fields while still only a stroll away from a large choice of restaurants, the beach and never ending shopping. The villa combines traditional and modern Balinese living, being two-story and open plan. The surrounding lush tropical gardens ensure total privacy in your own special part of Bali.
We had a fantastic stay at Brad's villa. It is in a great spot only 5 minutes walk to the beach where you will find the amazing beach bar La Plancha. 15 walk in the other direction and you're smack bang in the middle of Seminyak. If you are too lazy to walk or its too hot a cab will be no more than $2 AUD
The pool was the perfect temperature and air con worked a treat! We had the tiniest of issues where the toilet started running (no major problem) and it was fixed within 30 minutes if letting Brad know... can't ask for better service then that!
Would recommend this to any one wanting a villa experience on a budget! There isn't anything 'budget' about this villa, with all trimmings you would expect of something $150 a night.
Wifi worked perfectly, bathroom was large, air con worked a treat, there was unlimited drinking water and the driver Brad arranged was extremely friendly.
Good small and cozy the children love it and is very central .
BJ generously upgraded my cousins to a private bungalow with their own private pool. They enjoyed themselves tremendously, and relished in the privacy of the bungalow. Airport pickup was easily arranged and guide was very friendly. I would book with BJ again the next time I'm in Bali. Thanks!
The condo itself is nice and very well decorated. I didn't really feel comfortable there, because the building itself is really old. I asked the host to transfer me to another condo, and they were able to comply.
We had a pleasant stay in Villa Carik. We all felt like home. The Villa is well maintained. We will come back again for long holiday on summer and we would expect to have better kitchen facilities like microwave oven, electric kettle, kitchen wares and toaster because we want to cook for dinner and enjoy the swimming pool at night. Washing machine for laundry is also great. Beddings and towels should be changed daily for sanitary purpose. Complimentary toothbrush and tooth paste should be provided. Hair dryer is also necessary as we need to dry up our hair after swimming at night. And would like it more if there will be breakfast menu for guests and be served upon request. Villa Carik is a lovely vacation house. We had a wonderful guest relations staff and house owner. They are very helpful, accommodating and friendly. Lastly, there is a driver for hire, and he really treated us nice. Thanks to all.
This is a beautiful, simple, rustic, just-out-of-the-way enough spot in Canggu. It is very quiet with a beautiful view of the rice field. The support staff were lovely and helpful, and the neighbourhood great for an evening stroll.
That being said- it seems the upkeep on the property has fallen by the way side. I contacted BJ (Brad) privately the day we left to let him know of several things that required maintenance - only to be called "delusional" by him.
I wasn't seeking a 5 star resort- only a place that was clean and worked.
Half the lightbulbs were burnt out, oil stains on the couches, tile pools chipped off and lying in the pool, a broken toaster, empty propane tank (which is what operate the cook top) so we were unable to even boil a cup of water, an ant infested garbage bin that had garbage in it when we arrived, cigarette butts, bottle caps and plastic littered around the pool, the outdoor bathtub that hadn't been cleaned, no sponge or soap to do the dishes, a mossy outdoor kitchen floor that was very slippery and on our last night- a giant rat that we saw run by on the rafter and then heard for hours after in the roof.
I sent the host an email and received a rather nasty reply, and a second one asking me to stop referring to it as a villa in my complaint to AirBnB because in his words (and yes, he wrote in all caps) "ITS A CHEAP LITTLE RUSTIC HOUSE".
It seems Brad's way of responding to less than positive feedback is to take personal attacks on his renters- seen both here on AirBnB and reported on other sites.
I imagine he will respond to this comment with something not very nice about me- but it is worth you're knowing what you may be getting in to.
I can only hope he will take the list I sent and fix the things that are broken (burnt out light bulbs, a garbage bin that can keep bugs and rats out, and an empty gas tank are not matters of opinion- these are things that simply need fixing).
The house itself is a gem and it would be a shame for it to fall into further disrepair.
Meghan darling what you forgot to mention is that you were not politely letting me know about 2 light bulbs and the garbage that hadnt been collected yet YOU WANTED A REFUND AFTER HAVING STAYED THE FULL TIME IN MY HOUSE. Im more than happy for anyone like you to never rent a property from me again - my next guests are already in that same house and very very happy. xx
In January last I recommend this villa to my friends, and they really enjoyed it, the atmosphere is cozy and friendly service.
The pictures of the studio advertised are definitely making the place look a lot bigger and modern then what it is. The location is pretty good and it only takes about 5mins to Seminyak by scooter. The staff is great if you have any problems or questions there are right there and sort things out so a big compliment to them. Otherwise it was ok but I wouldn't stay there again.
I have used Airbnb before with much success. We even booked a villa for the beginning of our trip in Seminyak that was awesome.
This place though was a nightmare. It is well outside of Seminyak, nowhere anything touristy. It was next to impossible for our taxi driver to find. After circling the block for 15 minutes, the driver had to drive 500m down a treacherous gravel road just to make it to the place.
Once we had finally made it, we were shocked to find a run-down, abandoned looking complex in the middle of nowhere. We looked for someone on property but no one was to be found. The whole complex was vacant. In fact, if you look closely on Airbnb, it looks as though the owner has every room of the complex listed on Airbnb.
After waiting 30 minutes for someone to come, we decided to leave and find another place. We did not want to take our chances on finding what the room is like. The property did not feel safe to us.
The price for this place is low, but there is a reason for that. It's in the middle of nowhere and the place has definitely seen better days. Not sure why it ever got good reviews.
Stay away from any listing saying Casa Blanco or studio in Kerobokan.
Treacherous gravel road, sounds dramatic - I hope you dont need therapy to get over it. Welcome to Bali mate, there is often a dirt road you have to deal with. If you want highways, go to Vegas. You arrived way early for check in on a sunday when most of the staff have day off. You booked a cheap $28 a night apartment that is less than 9 months old and then say its seen better days even though you didnt go inside. You need a reality check.
Bj upgraded me to an amazing villa with a private pool in Bali!
