This is a bedroom in my cozy ground floor flat in Zone 2, in the Highgate/Archway area of London. This is a well-connected, quiet, safe area and the flat has a garden in the back. This is a private double room with a bay window onto the street, a bamboo clothes rack for hanging clothes and a very comfortable double bed with a nice thick mattress.
I live here most of the time and sometimes there will be other Airbnb guests or friends of mine staying here. There is also a futon in the living room and sometimes I or friends of mine stay there. I'll let you know who's going to be around during your stay so we can share the bathroom. As you can see there are lots of positive reviews and I am happy that many people have found my home a friendly place to stay.
The kitchen and bathroom are shared. The kitchen has pots and pans and utensils which you are free to use. I often have fresh fruit and vegetables that you can also have. I share pretty much everything in my kitchen. There is a dining table in the shared living area which you can use unless it is late and someone is sleeping in there. I often invite guests to share a meal, or a piece of homemade cake and cup of tea.
You are welcome to use the washing machine and there is free WiFi in the flat. I provide clean towels, sheets and duvet with extra blankets if you need them. There is heating throughout the flat but an extra space heater in this room if needed.
One of the great attractions of the area is that just a few meters away is the beautiful and famous Highgate Cemetery where Karl Marx and George Eliot are buried along with other luminaries. It is mysterious and overgrown in places, perfect for quiet stroll through the history of London.
The place is a bit tricky to find the first time but I will meet you at the tube station if you want me to. I am about an 8-10 minute walk from Archway station on the Northern Line of the tube (Underground/Metro) and lots of buses to central london. The tube takes about 15-20 min to central London and the buses take longer but are nice to see london. For example the 390 bus goes from Archway to Notting Hill and you see lots of sites along the way.
I live here as well so you will share the place with me unless we make a special arrangement for you to rent out the whole place. I am an Artist, a PhD student and I work. I am American, but have lived in London for many years, so I can give you advice and tips about the city. I have some maps and books that you are welcome to borrow. A cleaner comes once a week, usually on a Wednesday morning. If you stay longer than a week, she will put clean sheets on the bed and I can ask her to wash your clothes if you make a special request.
Several guests with children have stayed and that's great as I have a 4 year old little boy myself. We do get up early and he laughs and plays sometimes but not so much as to disturb. I may not be able to accommodate longer stays but do enquire and I we'll see what we can do. I look forward to meeting you and please sign the guest book before you go!
I stayed with Jeffrey for one night while I searched for my own house in London. He is such a friendly person with some interesting stories and it was a pity I couldn't stay longer. He was a very welcoming host and managed to save me when I got lost on the way to his house.
Thanks Jeffrey. All the best.
A convenient place for a short stay.
Jeffrey is a friendly and helpful host. Room is clean and tidy. Good connections to the centre of London.
Staying with Jeffrey and Jack was simply a pleasure. From a nice warm drink with a home made vegetable muffin when I arrived late on a cold night to a warm room with a comfortable bed, all went happily. And Jack's company was pure addition: he was so quiet in the morning that he never once woke me but friendly later in the day.
It was only a short walk to the underground which felt totally safe late at night. And above all, really interesting conversations with hospitable Jeffrey. stay there!!
My parents stayed a whole month with Jeffrey and had a great holiday (thank you Jeffrey!) - Anna
It was lovely to stay with Jeffrey, very friendly and we felt very welcome. The room was clean and tidy, the bed is good and an extra heater available for cold days. The room is not very big, but quite sufficient. A big thank you to Jeffrey and Jack!
A warm room, comfy bed, cosy flat, hot shower & lovely atmosphere. Perfect :)
Keeping it short and simple: Very nice and calm district, cozy home/room and adorable persons! Jeffrey, Jack and David will stay in our minds and hearts and we`d definitely love to come back again. Highly recommended to all of the lovely people out there.
Jeffery was lovely and his home is immaculate. As we only stayed one night we didn't get to see much of Jeffery. However, we felt very welcome and comfortable in his home. The location is a little out of the way and hard to find at first. Nonetheless a very pleasant place to stay.
Was very Quick but very Good ! Jeffrey and his little boy are very kind.
