Description

The Space

A spacious light filled room with recently refurbished with a lovely modern decor. This room offers the comfort and privacy with the extra conveniences you find in a family home.

About your room…

You will be sleeping in a comfortable queen size bed, complete with an electric blanket to keep you warm on cold Melbourne nights, (should you need it).

The room on offer can host a couple or single and we can offer a cot if you have a little one. (no extra cost).

There is ample storage both for clothing and suitcases to be tucked away in the built in robes and chest of drawers.

Fast WIFI makes accessing the world and organising future plans easy for you. There is a comfortable desk to use whilst on your computer.

Your room has a mini bar fridge. For drinks and snacks, but you are also welcome to access the fridge and pantry in the kitchen to store food.
There is a tv with in built dvd player in your room and we have a big selection of dvds you can borrow to relax in your down time.

Toiletries are provided to ensure you have everything you need to be comfortable on your immediate arrival.

Newport is a great suburb in the inner west of Melbourne. We are close to the beach and close to the city with easily accessible public transport. There are many hidden gems in the inner west, so don't forget to check out the guidebook or ask for our favourite attractions.

We are a friendly and easy going Aussie family. We hope to give you a comfortable place to relax in whilst enjoying beautiful Melbourne.

Included in the cost of you room is the use of house amenities. We have a beautiful modern kitchen with a second fridge for you to store food and tea, coffee and filtered water are included in your stay. We also have a large dishwasher for ease of cleaning dishes.

You are welcome to use laundry facilities. There is a clothes line outside for drying clothes and a rack in your bedroom. If the weather is too wet, then there is a clothes dryer that can be accessed.
We are surrounded by parks and a myriad of little shops, cafe's and other useful business's like hairdressers etc. There is a supermarket that is open until midnight a short walk from our home.
Nearby is the the seaside village of Williamstown. There is a good swimming beach there and many food/wine establishments where you can enjoy sea views of the harbour.

There is a great fitness centre near our house with a professional size pool and spa and sauna, plus a range of classes and gym equipment if you want to keep fit :-)

Guest Access

Whilst staying with us you will have access to:
Fast wifi.
Laundry facilities and a dryer (dryer for use in rainy weather only) .
A separate refrigerator for your food and space in the pantry to store other food.
Kitchen facilities for cooking simple meals. Please note that between 6 − 7 pm the kitchen will be pretty busy cooking the family meal, so where possible try to prepare food outside of this time.
A separate living area to access if you want to escape from the family and read or watch tv etc We have a collection of dvds you can access when you just want to relax.

Interaction with Guests

We understand every guest is different. Some people like to have interaction and others a quiet place to base themselves to meet busy schedules. So we understand and will be led by you and always respect your privacy. But if you want a chat or need advice or assistance with anything we are available.

The Neighborhood

You could live well enough here without owning a car. The frequent buses meander through the streets connecting Newport train station with Yarraville via Altona North & Kingsville/Spotswood. That enables you to get to schools, strip shops, doctors, dentists & Altona Gate Shopping Centre for all your basic needs.
For entertainment, etc., you can easily get to Yarraville for the Sun Cinema, cafes, and shops, etc; or visit Williamstown for a wide variety of eateries, cafes, pubs, market, etc. If you want to get to the beach, the train from Newport station to the beach is only a 5 minutes trip to Williamstown Beach station, or if you prefer pools then the Leisure Centre is on the bus route along Mason St. For cyclists, the bike path along the foreshore is a really nice ride - you have Williamstown & beyond to the east and Altona beach to the west.
As Newport & Williamstown are on a sort of mini-peninsula, we don't get the through-traffic congestion that a lot of other suburbs get. Commuting via rail to the city beats driving any day. I get to read instead of getting frustrated in commuter traffic. If you have to get to the city by car then on a weekend the city is only 15 minutes away.
All in all, to live so close to Melbourne CBD, Newport is a nice place to live!

House Rules

Please note you are welcome to use the kitchen but you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself and if you happen to have any breakages or incineration of cookware you will need to replace it :-)
In the interest of hygiene, we ask that you use the dishwasher to ensure proper cleaning of utensils and cups, plates etc. Large items like saucepans etc will need to be hand washed.

The coffee machine is a barista quaility one and not for general use, (even by me) . But if you are around in the am when Jim has fired it up he will happily make you an awesome coffee - espresso, cafe latte with the best locally sourced coffee beans.

If you are a long term guest (more than a week) you are responsible for maintaining the washing of the towels and bed linen you have been provided for in your room. On your departure your do not need to do anything in regard to washing linen etc.

Please be aware that the family meal is normally cooked between 6 − 7pm so please try and do your meal preparations outside of these times

We have a strict NO SMOKING policy on our property.

Sorry we cannot accomodate pets.
