Come explore the Crystal Coast & Southern Outer Banks at this cottage home. Tucked into 40 acres of woods and farmland, you can watch the sun change over the Bogue Sound or stroll through woods and farmland. A tranquil vacation awaits you here!
An elevated view of the Bogue Sound, taken looking east. You can watch the sunrise over the water from the dock.
Two bedrooms with queen beds are available in a curtained off guest suite. Both bedrooms have large closets, nightstands with bedside lights, dressers, and immediate access to a full bath.
The bathroom features a large walk-in shower, and it's only downside is the sink doesn't offer a tremendous amount of counter space.
The kitchen, dining room, sunroom, and covered back porch look out to the Bogue Sound. The living room features a large TV with digital cable, Apple TV, a very comfy couch, and several lounge chairs. The kitchen is well stocked, and includes a gas stove, food processor, toaster, coffee maker (although I make coffee with a french press most mornings), and more. The sunroom features wicker couches and chairs for lounging. The house is roughly 1900 square feet, and overall its floor plan is open and spacious.
The back porch is covered, and I can't say enough about the view of to the Bogue Sound. The scenic briny water will draw your eyes constantly in the daytime, and in the evening the lack of light pollution allows the stars to shine overhead.
Guests have access to the entire house, with the exception of the master bedroom and master bathroom (unless handicapped utilities are needed), including: the kitchen, washer/dryer room, sunroom, porch, dock, and one space in the garage for a small car or SUV (trucks will still need to park outside).
Free access can be provided to a boat ramp, and the property features plenty of space to temporarily store your trailer.
For handicapped guests, a large wheel chair ramp can be installed (with advanced notice) including other ramps to help facilitate access to the dock. The master bath features a roll-in shower, which can be made available on request. The guest bath features a walk-in shower, yet the lip is roughly 3 inches high, and could present an obstacle to mobility challenged guests. Once again please let me know in advance if you will be needing these amnesties, as I will need to work ahead of arrival.
Only the master bedroom is "off limits," but as mentioned access can be made available to handicapped guests or in the event of a dire shower crunch.
Interaction with Guests
I'll be present at the house for your stay, and I love hanging out with my guests and guiding them around the area. I work from home, and enjoy cooking for (and with) guests provided they chip in on groceries and depending on my workload (I can't make promises on being able to provide a meal).
The area around the house is beautiful—secluded by woods, farm fields (in progress), and quiet. A few hidden gems lie on the property, and an upscale community with a clubhouse, pool, and marina lie immediately next door.
Swansboro, Morehead City, Beaufort, Emerald Isle, and Atlantic Beach are all close by. The property is almost perfectly in-between Swansboro and Beaufort, allowing you to access either town in 20 minutes. The Emerald Isle beaches are ten minutes down the road (traffic dependent of course).
Definitely check out my guide book for things to see and do in this area. Emerald Isle serves as a gateway to the Outer Banks and offers some spectacular natural settings.
You'll need a car to truly enjoy your stay here, as public transportation is nonexistent and cab service (while decent) is pricey.
Other dogs are welcome here. I ask that you kennel them if plan to leave the unattended, and I do have an extra kennel for the house.
Smoking is permitted outside.
Guests are asked to have a great time, and keep it reasonably quiet after midnight. I can point you in the right direction should a wild hare seize you.
No drugs cheech.
Second time here ! Eric is very welcoming and his place so peaceful, so clean and well organized. We were feeling like at home. It was slightly raining so we visited Fort Macon and really enjoyed it. Interesting piece of history.
The house is beautiful! We really enjoyed our time there. Eric is a great host, and has clearly put a lot of time and effort into making sure people enjoy their stay. He has a great kitchen and it was really fun cooking while we were there. The porch was the best part -- a great view and comfy furniture! It was an all around lovely trip.
This was my first experience on Airbnb and it was amazing. I surely thought it would be weird to share someone's house but after we met our host, Eric, our opinions changed. He approved our reservation the night before and gave us detailed directions to his hidden house by the water. He also gave us great recommendations on where to eat around the area and even invited us to a bar with his friend. His home was absolutely beautiful; the view from the kitchen is to die for. If the weather wasn't so cold, I would've been outside enjoying it more. I loved looking at his antiques and paintings around the house. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean. The walk-in shower was marble-tiled all over which felt quite luxurious. Eric's dog, Bridget, wasn't feeling well but he still allowed her to come out and say hello. She's very cute, quiet, and obedient! Overall, he definitely made us feel at home. I will, for sure, make another reservation to stay at his house in the near future. Don't look any further, book now!
Thank you for the great hospitality, Eric!
Gorgeous area, gorgeous view, gorgeous home, gorgeous host and best of all gorgeous dog! What more can we say! Don't miss it if you are in the area.
Eric was an absolutely great host. I arrived late at night. He helped me to find the way to his place. He gave very good recommendations what to see in the area and helped me plan my trip. His place is amazing. It is located directly at the waterfront in a beautiful natural area. The house and my room and bathroom were cozy and neat. I just loved the place!
We had a wonderful time at Eric's cottage! The view was breathtaking, his home was immaculate and the photos he provides are very accurate. Both Eric and his sweet doggy Bridget were welcoming and accommodating to us and our dog. The dogs even got to run and play in the backyard together! We also appreciated Eric's beach and restaurant recommendations. We enjoyed a delicious meal at a dog friendly location that he suggested and took in a sunset at a more remote beach location that he gave us directions to. We needed a little weekend getaway and some R&R which was exactly what we got. We are so thankful to Eric and we can't wait to return for another visit.

Writer of words, coder of bits, fun-loving, and a thinker & tinkerer. I am laid back, adventurous, reserved with a hidden streak of mischief, and quick with a smile. I wake up every morning to a hug and kiss from the sweetest four legged daughter alive, and make a kick ass cup of joe or tea to start the day. I was raised with Southern sensibilities, polished clean by my European mother. I read constantly, love music of all forms, enjoy throwing heavy weight around for exercise, and relish meaningful conversations.
My work gives me the freedom to travel, and I recently moved to the Crystal Coast. Outside of office hours, you'll find me mulling around the farm, tinkering on machinery, scribbling on pages (most of which get thrown away), or banging on my old keyboard.
