About Pai, Thailand

Pai is a small town, nestled in a lush valley in Northern Thailand. A gentle breeze blows often, cool and refreshing, as one finds only in the Northern Thai region.

Foreigners and Thais co-exist here in a harmonious melange of artists, musicians, city-dwellers on holiday, nature enthusiasts, and adventurous backpackers.

Most people extend their stay when possible, and many return to this special place. This has led to an increase in tourist numbers, and an improved infrastructure to accommodate more people.

Despite some progress, Pai is still a beautiful and charming place, where you can find relaxation and peace.

  • Ming and Jake are very hard working and generous hosts. The hut has a beautiful view, close to town but far enough away for quiet nights. The food Ming cooks is probably the best in Pai. On Sunday they have a farmers market and Ming serves up the best lasagne and lentil soup. She even offered to take our bags in to the bus station for us so we didn't have to carry them. Thanks for all the laughs Ming.

  • Such a warm fun place, like having your own house and a mom to cook for you! Beautiful yoga studio too. Hard to capture this place in photos.

  • I stayed in this amazing community for such a short time yet felt right at home. Mink has a whacky sense of humour, her own group of friends living with her and the best location in northern Thailand. It's a short walk to the bustling town of Pai with its crazy night markets and street buskers yet far enough away that I you choose to rest the beat of the town does not disturb you. It features stunning bamboo huts, beautifully maintained and outdoor bathrooms where you can shower watching the stars. Misty mornings anow smoke problems make this a greatite place to visit and the sunsets are spectacular. This couple have thought of everything to make your stay always 'too short' .

  • If you want to relax and find peace of mind, it is the right place to go!! Ming and Jake were great host. Jake picked us up at the bus station, because we were a bit lost (about 15-20 mins from the city by walk), so we were grateful for that. He helped us a lot for some information in Pai.

The bungalow was really nice, clean and comfortable, there is a hammock for relaxing on the balcony. The view of the place is amazing.

The food was nice and fresh, we asked for a fresh orange juice almost everyday, pretty cheap. There is also yoga class three weeks per week.

Finally, it was our favorite place in Thailand!

  • My husband Robb and I went to Thailand for our honeymoon, and Jake and Mink's place (and Pai) was, by far, our favorite place that we visited. It's hard for me to describe how much we loved staying here because there are so many reasons. Mink cooks delicious made-to-order food throughout the day at the restaurant. She makes delicious Thai and western food, but my favorite dishes were the Penang curry and Indian curry noodles, which I often ordered for breakfast (YOLO). The bungalow that we stayed in had a patio with a hammock where we hung out, played cards, read books, and watch some ducks do their thing. When we felt like socializing, we just went to the restaurants, ordered food or a beer, and chatted with our fellow guests. Everyone was very friendly, and we felt like we were among kindred spirits.

Pai is a great mix of Thai and foreign tourists. It's more peaceful than the islands down south, and prices are cheaper as well. I think the bungalows are technically outside of Pai town, but it's about a 5-10 minute walk into the busy areas. We found it easy to walk into town when we were looking to go out and mingle, but the bungalow was quiet and peaceful when we wanted to just chill out. We're already plotting how we can come back to Pai for, hopefully, a much longer stay.

  • This is the perfect place to say in Pai! Jake and Ming were the best hosts we could have asked for. Not I mention Mings delicious cooking and Jakes wondrous baking. The room is exactly as in photos, but the views are even more breathtaking.

Warning: you will not want to leave!!!

  • Me and partner stayed for two nights here and we wish we could have stayed longer! It is in a lovely setting with a great view and the huts are spacious and nicely decorated. The hammock and comfy chair on the balcony are a great touch also. The hosts Ming and Jake and their little boy are so welcoming and helpful. Jake picked us up from pai no problems. Mings cooking is also great. Thanks for a relaxing stay!

  • What a wonderful, peaceful place- loved staying in the Thai style bungalows and listening to the rain on the thatched roof. Jake was very helpful with bus station pick-ups and drop-offs and bike rental; Ming's cooking was excellent. I'd certainly visit again!

  • Ming and Jake were fantastic hosts, so laid back and helpful! We rented a scooter to get back and forth between their place and Pai (though you can easily walk), and it allowed us to explore the area and get to the hot springs. Ming is an excellent cook, try the morning glory!
