This private getaway is well worth the drive down the mountain.

Many enjoy the snorkeling from here often referred to as "Da'Rock".

Other Things to Note
*The drive down from HWY 11 onto Milolii Dr. may be more easily navigated during the day for the first time. (Consideration for flights)
Several twist and turns, take it slow and enjoy the ride.
Well worth it to be on the flats we refer to as, "the edge of the world"
*All properties in Milolii are on a rain water catchment system. Ours is triple filtered. Tenant is responsible for the purchase of their own bottled water and consumables.
*There is a house journal in the living area, please take a moment to leave your mark.
*CODE: for accessing the keys will be provided prior to arrival via email.

Your cleaning fee does NOT include dishes and BBQ/cooler cleaning. If you found it - and used it, please return it clean and where you found it.
Mahalo for choosing a new and fuller vacation experience with us.
Great deal for my weekend trip. Tim was very helpful and always responded promptly. Getting in and out of the house was easy. The neighborhood is quite an interesting place with all the lava rock and homes going up. The place had a nice breeze and I spent almost all my time on the covered lanai. Milolli was not too exciting during the day, so I would head up to Kona for my adventures. Drive is about an hour. Also I took the surf boards and snorkel gear out and they all worked just fine - a great addition!
We had a lovely stay at the Poi 13. Pam was great and the home was spotless. It's a real getaway from the regular tourist areas but convenient to the store (about 20 minutes) and to fantastic snorkeling. I agree with other reviewers that "sleeps 6" is a stretch. Also, with being on the catchment system it would have been nice to have some water to get us started since we did not arrive until about midnight and stores were closed. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Mama and baby humpbacks right from the porch and were so pleased we stayed at the Poi 13.
The screened in patio area had amazing views of the ocean and it was great to wake up hearing the ocean. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed for our stay. The neighbor was very quiet and peaceful. Overall a very good experience staying here.
The house and the view from the lanai were nice. Some things that should be noted before booking this place. It is 2 hours away from Hilo and just over an hour away from Kona and there is a treacherous 3 mile road to get to the property once you leave the highway. It is advertised as "a stone's throw from ocean", but is two blocks away. Also, "snorkeling steps away from back yard" is a 45-minute walk or 8-10 minute car ride to a safe snorkeling location. The area just two blocks away is a steep cliff with many rocks in the water and I can't imagine this is the area they are talking about for snorkeling. The property uses rain-encatchment so you will need to bring your own drinking water...which we were not told before we got there so we had to go back out to closest grocery store, 14 miles away, to get some. We tried to contact hosts 3 weeks before our arrival to receive pertinent details and got no response. I tried again a few days before arrival and once more on day we were to arrive. Once we arrived and I called Pam she gave us the internet password and I saw that Tim had written us me that day. Finally "accomodates 6" is a stretch. There is a small futon chair, but it is not a traditional fold out and would only be comfortable for one small child. The other option is a small chase lounge chair that is part of the sectional sofa, again only suitable for a small child.
Our hosts were great right from the start. Their place was as advertised. The community was great, friendly and we felt safe and secure. Having a local contact added so much more to our stay.
This place was exactly what we were looking for. We did experience a problem with some wasps but we eventually won. Watching the whales and waves from the enclosed deck was wonderful.
Overall this was a great place to stay and we would recommend it to others who like privacy and solitude.
Neighbors and caretaker checked in on us to make sure all was ok. All was organized to make it easy to find all we needed. Judging from the books on hand, we and Tim share many of the same values. He and his wife are people we would like to get to know better. It was a joy to be with members of my family who live so far apart that we do not often have the opportunity to be together. Our hang out time was wonderful.
We had a great time at Poi 13! It was a ways away from any major towns or cities but was a good base to explore the South Island, which was amazing! House was clean and hosts were very nice, even though we didn't see them face to face. Pam, the property manager, came by to meet us and take care of anything we needed. We would definitely come again. Thanks!
