About this listing
Urban Oasis has opened up another room on the second floor of our beautiful home!! Your room and stay features the same amenities found in our first listing, but more! It has a flat screen tv, desk, queen size bed and plenty of closet space!
I think what's most unique about my space is that it literally is an Oasis in the middle of the City! (My block) is quiet, picture perfect in the early mornings with birds filling the air with music and offers a pleasant view with trees and beautifully manicured lawns! Come and see for yourself!
As a guest in our home you have access to the kitchen, the dining room and the living room. A light continental breakfast will be served the first week of a two week or more reservation.
The house is located within blocks of University City/Center City--just a train ride away on the market El.
If you have any more questions about staying in my home, please reach out to me in a message and I would be more than happy to answer you.
Interaction with Guests
Because l live in the home you will always have access to me. I like to meet my guest at whatever level they are interested in engaging me at the time. I understand that many times guest simply want to be left alone to study and other guest love being social. Which ever you are, I am a pretty flexible person so I am sure you would have a wonderful stay!
The neighborhood is diverse, with several international restaurants within walking distance. It's conventionally located accessing several of the city's main attractions such as Penn, Drexel and Center Center, via public transportation or driving. The neighborhood is being gentrified so there are some differences in presentation depending on which block you are on, but my block is beautiful to say the least! (My block recently entered the Most Beautiful Block in Philadelphia contest!) You should know that there are some blocks in and around my neighborhood that guest have commented feeling uneasy walking down, particularly at night. This is to expected in any urban community. That said, I have lived in the community for eight years and have always felt safe and my guest haven't had any problems. :)
Our home is also conveniently located to several modes of transportation. The 31 bus route which takes you into the heart of the city as well as Drexel and UPenn is located just one block from our home at 46st and Fairmont. The Sept Train Station is located at 46st and market, another two blocks from our home. We also have a house bike that guest are always welcome to at no extra charge.
Other Things to Note
For your groceries, there is a Aldi on 46th & Market. Other convenient stores include Rite Aid (By 41st and Market) CVS (By 48th and Market), gas stations (Chestnut Street)
We ask our quest to help us keep the living/kitchen space tidy by washing their dishes after each use.
No smoking or alcohol is allowed in our home :)
Please return keys to owner after use
The place is just like what it's described on the profile. Through meets and few events, I find Lola and her husband Mat a kind and engaging couple!! Like what's suggested by another review, there's no washer or dryer, but through a trip to a laundromat with a suitemate, we got to know each other better. And the total amenity package is 4.5/5 stars. The neighborhood is beautiful, the neighbors nice, the suitemates wonderful. The place is currently hosted by Tai, Lola's sister. Tai is a methodical and friendly host. This is a superb family who's caring about its guests; kind of like tea, leaves you with good "tastes".
The room and the whole house are very nice, and Lola, her husband and her sister are very welcoming and try to help guests in everything they can and really make guests feel at home! The neighborhood may seem a little bit unsafe from the outside but after a few days I felt safe going everywhere by myself; I went back home on my own after dark on several occasions and I didn't have any problem, it's a quiet residential area. The subway station is less than 10 minutes away on foot and it's very convenient to reach the city center.
I am very happy to have stayed at Lola's house for almost 1 month. It was a nice experience and I will definetely come back to visit and to stay again with them.
The house is so beautiful, the backyard is amazing it is very quiet and peaceful. The room is very cozy, clean, private and close to the bathroom.
The neighboorhood it is also nice and quiet, it is very easy to get to the train station and the bus stop is really close to the house. It is very easy to get around.
Words cannot express how thankful I am, I went to New York with Lola and it was awesome.
Lola, Tai and Mathias thank you so much for everything, you were amazing! Hope to see you again.
My experience in the house was incredible.
Lola, Mathias and Talye were very warm. The house is big, The room was clean and smooth to stay. There is an atmosphere of calm to work and study. The bathroom is near the room and clean too.
The neighborhood is quiet, tidy, clean, friendly people are around. The house is close to the metro and supermarket (very cheap), 8 minutes walk, and is safe.
I want to insist that homeowners are extremely kind and friendly, they really took a lot of affection.
The place is ideal for students or people who want to have quick access to downtown.
Many many thanks, Lola, Mathias y Taiye.
The room is clean and lovely, with a shared bathroom that was also well maintained and clean. I enjoyed my short stay at Lola's place. The neighborhood is a few blocks from the train station and is in a quiet residential neighborhood. The only downside is it isn't the easiest to get around (cabs don't regularly pass by nor go to the area).
Lola was an amazing host. She was very welcoming and responded quickly to inquiries.
I hosted Cherie for two nights while she attended her friend's graduation at UPenn, which is conveniently located a mile from my home. Cherie, was pleasant and a cordial guest. I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced in securing a cab. This hasn't been my experience; however, according to (website hidden) it would seem that unpleasant experiences with local cab companies is common place here in the city. That being said, If guest were to have a issue we wouldn't have a problem transporting them ourselves. :) If you choose to stay with us again here is a list of preferred cab companies that I have used several times to transport me from my house to several locations throughout the city: PHL Taxi (phone number hidden) Philadelphia Taxi Cab Services SVC INC. (phone number hidden) and Capital Dispatch Incorporated (phone number hidden). All of these companies have good reviews on (website hidden) Thanks again for allowing us to host you and we hope you will choose us again on your next visit to Philadelphia!
