House Rules

MUST-HAVE qualities of the would-be tenant(s):
-Non smoker.
-Early bird (most the family members work and have early rutines, so we get up early every day).
-Sociable and Respectful.
-Responsible, Honest and Trust-worthy.

NO pets allowed.
NO loud music or parties after 10pm.
NO orgies or overnight guests allowed.
NO drugs allowed.
NO extra guests.

Again, a family lives right on the same property, so make sure to follow security measures such as checking in at reasonable hours and making sure all gates are properly closed every time you leave/enter. Also, we are an eco-conscious family, so make sure to use resources responsibly (use only the necessary water and leave lights off when you're not using them) and to properly dispose trash. Organics, meaning food leftovers and fruit skins, must be thrown into the compost in the backyard; while hard plastics, cans and paper must be cleaned and thrown into the recycle bin; everything else goes in the regular trash.

As you may have seen on the reviews, sometimes, out of the goodness of her heart and an instinct for hospitality, my mother will offer guests some food. This is an occasional gesture so please do not take it for granted and expect her to have to feed you and make her feel it is her duty to do so. We charge an extra fee in case you want typical costarican breakfast included during your stay.

Just use common sense and we'll get along just fine!

Note: we're LGBT friendly :)

It is hard to put into words the great experience I had with this rental. The Bogarin family is incredibly kind and welcoming above and beyond what may be expected. They quickly invited me for meals and refreshments, showed me the area, drove me around San Jose, and answered endless questions about the city and country. In addition from renting from them, I could quickly call them friends. If you are looking for a lovely experience in Costa Rica with an even lovelier family than this unit is the right choice. It was clean, comfortable and very spacious. It was well-equipped to make the stay convenient. I strongly recommend this unit!

The family made us feel really welcome. We arrived in the afternoon and the next morning we were invited to breakfast, which was a very traditional Costa Rican dish of, Pinto. The mam, Maria is a really good cook and would often come out to the garden to offer us snacks that she had prepared. The apartment is actually a lot bigger in the photo's and the bed is big and comfortable. The only issue we had was with the curtains, they were very thin so if you are not an early riser it is hard to sleep on. The neighbourhood had everything that you need in close vacinity, shops, bars, supermarket and a big shopping centre, 'Lincoln Plaza' all within walking distance. Right outside the house you can catch the bus to San Jose which is great as they are very frequent, the only downside is the noise which can be heard in the apartment and shakes in the wind. Overall we would really recommend for people to stay at Thais's place. The family will really do what they can to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

I have had such a nice time here that I extended my stay another month! I am renting the second floor apartment which was furnished exactly as stated in the description, very nice, spacious and comfortable. The whole Bogarin family has been so warm and welcoming and made me feel like family. Thais's mom has cooked some delicious "typical Tico" dishes for me to try and I have gotten to practice my Spanish with her. They have all made sure I had everything I needed and helped me find my way around the San Jose area and other places around Costa Rica. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, two blocks from the bus stop but with everything you would need in walking distance: grocery stores, restaurants, parks, banks, even a large mall. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay!

My family has been in the turist business for over 30 years and I even went to school for hotel management, so hospitality is at the heart of our home.. in accumulated experience, you could say the Bogarín family has a PhD in hosting!
