An elegant and quiet apartment in the heart of Prati neighborhood close to the Vatican area.
The apartment is located on the second floor (first for Italy) of an elegant, recently renovated building built in the early 1900's. It is only a few steps from the subway line A station "Ottaviano - S.Pietro", in the heart of the tony Prati neighborhood and faces a nice and silent internal courtyard. The entrance of the apartment is from a private stairs from the court itself. This gives the apartment, especially at night, a magical atmosphere which impressed my younger son who kept naming the place, "The Mysterious Home"...
The apartment has two big window-doors leading to the long balcony and composed by two large rooms with high ceilings (about 4 m). One of the rooms is partially occupied by a fancy and romantic mezzanine hosting a loft style bedroom (the size of the mattress is 150x190 cm).
A comfortable convertible sofa bed allows to host two additional guests. By request, a fifth guest may be hosted in a convertible single bed.
The apartment is provided with every kind of comfort: the kitchen is fully equipped with pans, dishes and accessories, and it has a gas stove, electric oven, microwave oven, refrigerator and vent hood.
The bathroom has its own window, a comfortable 70*90 cm. shower, a large sink, wc, bidet, hairdryer and a washing machine. There are towels, blankets, sheets, a flat screen TV, radio, CD player, heating, unlimited hot water, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner. Moreover:
>>> Complimentary mobile phone with Italian SIM card
>>> Free Internet WIFI ADSL
There is no air conditioning since the thick stone walls of the building protect the apartment during the hot season. There is a big ceiling fan in each of the two rooms.
Some pieces of antique furniture and a few Italian art reproductions inspire a charming and particular atmosphere: on the bedroom ceiling there is a Mantegna's "Bridal Chamber" reproduction while a full size Leonardo's "Annunciation" welcomes the guests at the home entrance.
The neighborhood is full of life. Just around the corner there are good restaurants and fantastic pizzerias, a fruit market, grocery stores, bar, supermarket. Via Cola di Rienzo, a few blocks away, is one of the main places for the Roman shopping.
The Vatican Museums, St. Peter and Castel S. Angelo are within walking distance. The city center can be easily reached with a short promenade or by subway (just three stops to the Spanish Steps).
Guests will have exclusive access to the apartment.
Interaction with Guests
I will welcome guests in person unless some emergency arises. Should I not be there, some close friend of mine will come to guide you through the apartment and the neighborhood.
The neighborhood is served by the subway and by several lines of buses.

The WIFI Internet connection is free and the ADSL modem is inside the apartment for your exclusive use. You will not change, for any reason, any password.
As you can see from the pictures, the apartment contains a few pieces of antique furniture which have a high value. There are also a few carpets which are not shown in the pictures. You will take the maximum care to avoid any accidental damage or stain.
Don't make noise during check-in and check-out. Carry your trolleys by hand when you are in the court. Always respect the quiet of the premises.

No words can describe how much we enjoyed staying at this apartment during our 5 day stay in rome. It was exactly the same as what was pictured in the airbnb site. It comfortably accomodated four people although it can even accomodate an extra person. The apartment is very accessible to restaurants, groceries and supermarkets and is an easy walking distance to Vatican and Metro Ottaviano which can easily lead you to the central termini and all places of interest in Rome. Check in and check out is easy and the host even provides a local mobile phone to facilitate communication. If i come back to rome, i will definitely stay in this apartment again.
We loved our stay at this place!! Mario is charming, and was extremely helpful when we got there. He took the time to describe the place, the neighbourhood and gave us a quick sense of Rome, which was great in planning our few days there. He had filled fridge and pantry, and left us with holiday goodies!! We really didn't expect to be so pampered... The place itself is great, very nicely equipped, very comfortable, and its location is amazing. We were steps away from the Vatican, and within walking distance of all the main attractions in Rome. We didn't even need to use public transportation. We would definitely want to stay there again next time we visit Rome...
The apartment's location is perfect! Mario is so friendly and helpful, thank you very much
Staying in Mario's apartment was great during our visit in Rome!
Our host was incredibly prompt in answering all our questions before arriving in Rome and even met/picked us up from the bus stop and took us to his apartment. Once we arrived to his very unique apartment, Mario provided us with an abundance of information regarding his apartment, the community, restaurant recommendations (which were very tasty), and how to move about the city efficiently. He even provided us with some maps and a small hand held phone to use in case of an emergency. As well, Mario was so kind to leave some refreshments in the apartment for us to enjoy!
The pictures depict the apartment accurately and was very clean upon our arrival. The apartment is also quite well situated close to the Vatican and the Metro which made visiting Rome quite easy and convenient.
We truly enjoyed staying here and would highly recommend this bnb to anyone planning to visit Rome!
Thank you for everything Mario!
My husband and I stayed at the Angels of the Mysterious Home for five nights during a 2-week visit to Italy. What a gem of a place! The apartment is conveniently located near the Vatican as well as a metro stop for making connections to other destinations. Despite this convenient location, Mario's place has a quiet neighborhood feel that we appreciated coming back to after a busy day of sightseeing. In addition to the location, the apartment offers ample amenities: comfortable bed, a living area with comfortable sofa and chair, full kitchen, and space to move around. We particularly appreciated many functioning electrical outlets for charging tablets, cameras, phones, etc., each evening. Mario even provided a basket of converters for those who may need them.
Perhaps the best feature of this property is Mario himself. He's a great host and he anticipates just about everything a guest will need. During the booking process, Mario was quick to respond to my initial inquiry and follow-on questions. Once we arrived in Italy, he gave helpful advice on the best way to get from the train station to the apartment. And when we arrived, there was no waiting. I am sometimes worried when staying in a private apartment that we'll be stuck waiting a while with lots of luggage for the owner to arrive and give us the key, etc. When we stepped out of the cab and rang in, Mario answered immediately and came to greet us warmly. To my dismay (but also to my appreciation) he insisted on lugging our 50-pound suitcase to the apartment, including up the stairs. Thanks again for that, Mario! Mario then spent time orienting us to the apartment and sat with us to review a customized map he prepared that highlights restaurants and other nearby areas of interest. (On that note, I highly recommend the wine bar immediately across the street - delicious food and wine, and frequented by many local residents rather than just tourists.) After Mario left, we enjoyed some beverages he provided as well as tasty candied almonds. These thoughtful refreshments hit the spot.
This was our first visit to Rome, and we hope to visit again one day. When we do, we hope we can stay again with Mario!
me and my mum had great times in Mario's place :) Mario was the best host I've ever met! when we arrived there, he welcomed us very kindly and give us full information we needed. during the stay I asked few questions and he answered very quickly it was a real time answer:) and not just host was wonderful but the place was very nice! it's better than the picture^^ and also very well equipped with everything you need (kitchen tools, ingredients, biscuits etc everything!). and also the location was very safe:) I would definitely recommend this place to all people who will visit Rome:)
