Description

The space

On the foothills of Meteora, at the old square of Kastraki (called Mesochori by the villagers) you'll see a unique building which has stood there since 1845. The Ministry of Culture has pronounced it "protected". The building has recently been restored and it is ready to welcome you.
It was refurbished with respect to the local architecture.
The materials, stone and wood are the same as 160 years ago. A traditional guesthouse of the highest standards.

We are at the old square of Kastraki, called Mesochori. One kilometer from Kalampaka, on the way to Kastraki, opposite "Haram" tavern, turn right at the sign "To the old quarters". Our guesthouse is within a kilometer and will make you feel being in another era.

Within walking distance you'll see the enormous rocks, monasteries, chapels, paths small woods. Kastraki, the village, lies in the west of Meteora and is amphitheatrically built among enormous rocks. Uphill in the east part of the village you will see the old picturesque quarters of the village. Further uphill you'll see the "Adrachti" (sprindle), named after its shape. Kastraki is an international attraction for rock climbers and hikers.

Kastaki is unique for its long tradition in folk culture.
It's a great experience for a visitor to walk in the narrow cobbled streets of the old part of the village, to visit the chapels and monasteries.

A very nice place - really mostly a guesthouse with a few rooms. Excellent breakfast, very nice location, and the rooms are very nice, too - excellent "base camp" to see the Meteora monasteries.

We loved staying here! The room was lovely, and Christos and his wife were welcoming. Check in was very easy, and they were flexible with our check in time. The location was perfect in relation to Meteora and the town. Overall a beautiful room, a balcony with a geat view, a charming location, welcoming hosts, a great value-5 stars all around!

The hosts, Christos and Voula, are amazing hosts. We have to stress 4 points that made our stay fantastic. 1) The rooms were beautifully put together with attention to details while maintaining a local, traditional style. 2) The breakfast, personally prepared by the hosts on the spot, was flavorful and included local products like marmalade, yogurt. Voula also prepared a delicious traditional type of pasta, called traxana as well as hot tea for the rest of the cold winter day. 3) In addition, during breakfast, Christos and Voula provided a handful of information about pretty much everything: from hiking trails, restaurants (taverna) in Kastraki and the bigger nearby town, Kalampaka, museums, all the way to helping us plan a roadtrip outside Meteora to visit the nearby mountain ranges, suggesting must-see villages, vista points and traditional landmarks. 4) The location of the room is fantastic. Based in Kastraki, the room is not only closer to the road/hiking trails leading to Meteora, but it also let us indulge ourselves in the traditional atmosphere of the village and enjoy the local food. Besides, the noisier nearby town of Kalabaka (where even parking can be a bit challenging) is about 5 minutes driving distance and you can even walk there.

Lovely inn in a picture perfect town. The hosts were SUPER helpful in answering all our questions. The inn is really well located right near the Kastraki town center. Inn was quiet and comfortable with tasty breakfast every morning. We fell in love with the beautiful town of Kastraki and also the restaurant down the street (Taverna Gardenia). It was really easy to get to the monasteries from the inn. We walked to some and bussed to others. Definitely hope to come back and stay here again! What a magical place!
