On the foothills of Meteora, at the old square of Kastraki (called Mesochori by the villagers) you'll see a unique building which has stood there since 1845. The Ministry of Culture has pronounced it "protected". The building has recently been restored and it is ready to welcome you.
It was refurbished with respect to the local architecture.
The materials, stone and wood are the same as 160 years ago. A traditional guesthouse of the highest standards.
We are at the old square of Kastraki, called Mesochori. One kilometer from Kalampaka, on the way to Kastraki, opposite "Haram" tavern, turn right at the sign "To the old quarters". Our guesthouse is within a kilometer and will make you feel being in another era.
Within walking distance you'll see the enormous rocks, monasteries, chapels, paths small woods. Kastraki, the village, lies in the west of Meteora and is amphitheatrically built among enormous rocks. Uphill in the east part of the village you will see the old picturesque quarters of the village. Further uphill you'll see the "Adrachti" (sprindle), named after its shape. Kastraki is an international attraction for rock climbers and hikers.
Kastaki is unique for its long tradition in folk culture.
It's a great experience for a visitor to walk in the narrow cobbled streets of the old part of the village, to visit the chapels and monasteries.
We expected to stay here, but were put into a hotel by the owner instead. Got a refund after we contacted Airbnb. Not the ideal experience.
What a perfect place to stay! It is an adorable, romantic hotel with ~5 rooms that are fairly different from each other. We had a wonderful stay. The woman running the place is so sweet! Breakfast was wonderful, and the location is perfect. As a general comment, you may or may not get the room pictured. Upon arrival, that was the only taken room. Our room did not have a balcony or jacuzzi tub as pictured.
a nice traditional cosy place, set in front of the dramatic landscape of meteora
we spent 2 days in Sotiriou suits and all went well (hot water, comf. bed, heating, etc.)
thank you :)
This is a very beautiful hotel and Christos, his wife and mother are excellent hosts. The rooms are exquisitely maintained and very pretty. The views are incredible. There is a very nice Taverna in walking distance. Chrisos speaks German too.
The hosts -- the couple and the husband's mom -- were all very welcoming. The lady (the wife) went out of her way, providing us evening tea and offering us the use of her computer as I could not get my device to connect to the wifi. The gentleman provided us with excellent breakfast consisting of delicious goodies made by his mom. Our first night there, they even had a bottle of house wine waiting for us in the room.
The room itself was very lavish and tastefully done. The bathroom hands down the best of all the rooms we stayed in on our trip to Greece. The entire guesthouse, in fact, has been decorated very thoughtfully and aesthetically. There is a common lounge area all the rooms open on to which has a very cute balcony that has a spectacular view of the rocks. The only thing that might have made the room better was it's size.
We thank our hosts for a very memorable stay!
The suite is truly AMAZING! Spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and the bed is so comfortable. With an excellent view from the balcony, this family run little guesthouse becomes one of our favourite accommodations in the past two months of Europe trip! Thanks for the warm hospitality!
We had a wonderful overnight stay at Amazing Suites in an amazing room with amazing views, and the breakfast was great too. So glad we chose to stay in Kastriki.
Great location and great host. Views are fantastic. Would definitely recommend this accommodation
Simply sensational. Welcoming, friendly and very helpful host. Great location in well-maintained heritage listed building. Excellent breakfast provided. Highly recommended. Minimum stay of three days suggested to appreciate the history and geography of Meteora and surrounding area.
Christos's mother-in-law welcomed us when we arrive late at night, mainly in Greek but with a big smile! The room was perfectly adequate with air conditioning and a hot shower. Three things that really set the hotel apart, though: the view - breathtaking; the homemade pastries, cakes, etc and the wine made by the owners!; the exceedingly detailed instructions in order to get the most out of Meteora, explained perfectly by Christos's wife, who is a real character, a great conversationalist, and an all round fantastic person! Highly recommend!
