This large apartment in Shibuya has 2 bedrooms and a living room, is modern, newly renovated, and completely furnished, has a large balcony and lots of floor space (rare in Tokyo), and is located on the top (12th) floor with an incredible view of Shibuya, Mount Fuji (when it's clear) and constant natural light. While it is located in the lively neighborhood of Shibuya, only 5 minutes walk from Shibuya station (or alternatively 1 minute walk from Shinsen station on the Inokashira line), the neighborhood is surprisingly quiet and peaceful in the Shinsen restaurant mecca.
This includes all utilities. At a fraction the price of Tokyo's hotels but with much more space, convenience, and freedom, this is a great apartment for a couple, or could even fit four people comfortably.
Please note that one of the bedrooms has a traditional queen-sized bed, and the other bedroom has a very comfortable sofa (which works great for one person) and also a double-sized futon (with all bedding, and folds up into the closet. Most guests prefer the futon, which is comfortable and easily accommodates two adults.
There is no smoking in the apartment, but you may smoke on the balcony. Please contact me with any other questions!
You'll love the place!
No smoking inside. At all.
Enjoy the nearby restaurants!
No parties - the neighbors are old.
We're not sure what happened between all of the previous reviews and our stay. And we are hesitant to be critical but:
- We washed every dish and piece of cutlery before we used it, and kept those pieces separate. There was butter, for example, on a butter knife in the drawer when we arrived, and stains on knives on the wall.
- We scrubbed the tub ourselves, but could not get the grime off with the resources we had. We ended up only using the shower.
- We ended up simply moving out a day early because our kids were coughing from all the dust.
We mentioned that we had problems to Jonathan in an e-mail, and told him that whoever was cleaning was clearly not doing an adequate job. While he responded quickly, we confess that we were disappointed not to receive more active support -- an offer to send in the cleaner immediately to do the job properly, or a discount/refund of some sort.
We should note that we are AirBnB hosts as well, so we know all to well that trouble can happen, and if you are far away, it can be difficult.
If the place were clean enough, it would be a nice space for a young couple. The neighbourhood is great, and there is a view of Mt. Fuji. Lots of good restaurants very conveniently located. We would not recommend it for families (but note: Jonathan does not advertise this for families in particular!) because of the size.
It's not cheap, but that's Tokyo.
My cleaning person has always done a fantastic job, and I'm sorry if it wasn't up to Rahul's expectations ... After he wrote me, I emailed him back offering talk it over and wanted to offer to give him a partial refund for his frustration, but he didn't reply to my message.
Stay here. The apt is sunny, clean, and centrally located. It's spacious and really felt like home for a week. There are amazing restaurants and markets just outside the door and it's a few minutes walk to the metro. Highly recommend this place! Also, Jonathan is really nice and very responsive.
It was fantastic to stay at Jonathan's place in Tokyo. Great communication prior to / during & after my stay. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking to airbnb in Tokyo.
We stayed here for just over two weeks and had an excellent time. Unbeatable location - an easy walk to Shibuya station for immediate access to all parts of Tokyo, but the apartment is on a quiet street, so it's really peaceful. It's a very comfortable size for a couple and one child (as we were); I think it would be a bit of a squeeze for four. It's comfortably furnished with decent closet space, lots of linen, and kitchen equipment if you want to stay home and cook (although with all of Shibuya's eating places on your doorstep I can't think why you would!). Excellent views from the apartment - we could see Mt Fuji very clearly on several days.
It would be great if a clear set of instructions could be provided for guests relating to the heating/airconditioner and washing machine. It was cold weather when we arrived and we needed heating on; it took a few emails back and forth with Jonathan for us to be able to figure out the Japanese characters on the remote control. Similarly, there were no instructions for the washing machine and we had to email Jonathan for those. The machine was described to us as a washer/dryer but the instructions only seemed to relate to washing - the machine never dried anything and we didn't want to press too many buttons to try to get our clothes dry since we couldn't read Japanese! Not a big hassle, but leaving a printed set of instructions for guests would solve the problems.
Overall, a great place to stay in an excellent location, with a friendly and helpful host.
Jonathan's apt is in a great location and the perfect size for a extended stay in Tokyo. The layout is terrific and the building is modern. We were fortunate to get a glimpse of Mt. Fuji from the balcony on a clear day.
Neighborhood is aruguably best location in Tokyo.
Apartment was quiet, clean, etc. Host was very responsive with help navigating city or anything we needed at apt. Perfect apt for 3 (its small by western standards but actually bigger than the hotels rooms in tokyo and other tokyo apartments!)
Again, the location can not be beat!
Jonathan was a wonderful host who provided all of the information we needed to enjoy our stay in Shibuya. The location is great and very close to Shibuya station (which has wonderful access to the rest of Japan). The place is a good size and there was plenty of space for my sister and I for our month long trip.
