Hola! An opportunity to stay in our lovely Cusco house in a beautiful cozy double room with an amazing view across the city & valley from the veranda outside. We are located in the popular San Blas area, close to the city centre.
Please read everything before booking. Even if you have read one of my other listings, sometimes they are different.
Our pretty double room is furnished and overlooks the city of Cusco and the valley beyond. In a quiet residential area close to the city centre, and within walking distance of all Cusco´s major archaeological sites, Casa Mirador is the perfect place to stay.
This is a quiet but social house, with 7 rooms and a great mix of people from all over the world: Europe, America, Peru, Australia, Japan, etc... Some work here, some are just passing through. But together we keep the place nice for all of us and it´s a friendly place. If you are looking for a home for your stay in Cusco then this is the place for you. If you prefer to be waited on hand & foot in a formal environment, then please try the Monestario Hotel!

Please be aware that Cusco is very cold at night in the winter (we are at a high altitude.) We will be hiring in fires but they are expensive to rent and run. If you would like a gas fire with your room, please reserve through our other listing with included heating, or you can choose to pay on arrival if there is one available, 20 soles a day/100 a week. Heating listing is https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/2882489
Interaction with Guests
We can provide local information and help with your stay in the area. If you would like, we can sometimes show you some of the key areas in the town.
You can choose how much you want to socialise with the other people who live here. We sometimes go out together and there are 3 common areas, the living room, the veranda and the kitchen. We usually find that people who like socialising meet together, but if you prefer your stay to be a bit quieter, then you can retire to your room. The choice is yours.
The property is located in a quiet & safe residential area with small shops & huge Inka stone and garden where people sit and relax. There is private security patrolling the area at night and it is one of the better areas of the city. There is very little traffic here so there are no honking horns and the air is fresh. But you are close enough to walk to all the major places of the city.
San Blas market 3 mins walk.
San Blas square 5 mins walk.
Plaza de Armas 10 mins walk.
Sachsayhuman 20 mins walk.
Transport to Pisac & Sacred Valley 10 mins walk.
Bus to airport 5 mins walk.
Taxi from bus station or airport around 4-10 soles, depending on how good your haggling is!!
Cusco is built in a valley between 2 mountain ranges. Most residential areas are up from the centre, as this house is. We usually walk to & from the town, but when necessary, taxis can be hailed to bring you home. From the road there are some steps up to the door so if you have mobility questions, please ask.
Other Things to Note
Sorry for the strict cancellation policy. Because our rooms are often taken on a long term basis, cancellations hit us hard so we have to implement this.
Please note that although there are 2 walls with windows in the room, a new structure is being built outside one window. This window is very small. The majority of the work has already been completed, and is mostly internal now. The views from the room through the other window remain outstanding.
Please remember that this is a home, not a hotel, even if you're only staying a few days. It's actually several homes all within the same building. Many people live here long-term and we all live our own lives. In order that the house runs nicely for all of us, we all clean up after ourselves...you too! We have a cleaner that comes in once a week, so there are no chores, just respect for all the guests and that we all want a nice place to stay. And it is. Almost everybody that has stayed here has respected this and we are so grateful to them.
That goes for noise too. Most of us socialise, but not all at the same time, so keep noise to a minimum if you come in late at night or leave early morning.
Please keep your room in decent order and respect the items provided. Damages must be paid for. You are renting the room as you would in a home, not a hostel, environment. Your room will be clean when you move in, and equipment is provided for you to maintain this. If you don't have time to clean your room then you can ask our cleaner and pay her independently.
Similarly with bedding, we provide this, and a towel if you need one, but we don't have enough for spares, so if you are staying long term, you can launder the sheets as needed.
No smoking in the house.
And, enjoy your time in Cusco!
We stayed in Cusco for 4 nights and had a great time with Cat and JJ. JJ was wonderful in helping us get the best price for our taxi ride from the bus station to Jardines del Inka. The view from our room was awesome and it really make adjusting to the high altitude a lot more wonderful. Although the room is a little small, it was clean and the shared toilet is just next door.
Cat and JJ were always ready to help with any information we needed on Cusco and the surrounding towns. We love our stay in San Blas Double with Amazing view.
Sorry (excuse the british) for the delay of this review. Cat is lovely, very interesting & kind. JJ charming and a real "darling". They made me feel very welcome and had a genuine concern that my trip to Cusco and around was exactly what I wanted. They shared their home, local knowledge and favorite spots and the other guests were just just as friendly and interesting. I felt like a "local" almost from the moment I arrived. Definitely the "the best of british". I hope they make it to Panama so I can return the hospitality.
The place is absolutely fantastic, we've had a wonderful stay there. The room is on the top floor, and you have a great view of Cusco without really getting out of bed! The bathroom is very spacious and the shower always hot. There is a kitchen downstairs if you wanna get away from eating out and make your own food.
Cat and JJ are just amazing, they will help you with anything you need and can point you in the right direction all the time. They will definitely make sure you feel like home. I've traveled on Airbnb for a long time and am also a host, and this place comes highly recommended!
I stayed at the house for 4 weeks. There were definitely both positives and negatives to living here.
I did not get to meet Cat, but JJ welcomed me to town and showed me around the area. The neighborhood is very safe (24-hr security guard). Main plaza's not far; bit of a hike back up, but the view is definitely worth it. The house is as advertised: it's not a hotel or a hostel, it's a shared living space. So the bare minimum is supplied (not saying that as a negative; they are very upfront about it in the description and that's how I prefer to travel). Showers were hot and pressure was great. Kitchen doesn't have a microwave, but the stove, oven, blender, other appliances, and set of pots and pans allow for making pretty much anything you could want to eat.
On the negative side, there are a lot of signs posted all over the house that tell you exactly how to behave which made it feel a little less like home than I was anticipating (there are 5 or so signs in the bathroom alone, for example). There were also several times that there was a lot of noise outside of social hours (as in between midnight and 5am) which disturbed my sleep after a long day of work. During the day there was construction being done on the house from 7am to 5pm 5-6 days per week. It seems to me that I should have been notified of this prior to booking. The construction started at the ground floor but by the time I left it had reached the third floor where I was staying and there were men making noise about 4 feet from my bed all day. For some reason water also needed to be turned off during the day due to the construction (not every day, but I never knew which days it was going to be off). This was unexpected and a bit frustrating as I could not shower, flush a toilet, or cook during these times.
I do sympathise about the works outside, but unfortuneately in Peru and especially in Cusco which has grown so vastly over the last few years, it is common for new structures to appear completely unannounced. We did not know about this beforehand so were not able to forewarn you. However, it should be noted that the window which is obscured is very small and the view from the room is unaffected.
I am about your comments about noise, as this room is far back from the street and, possibly with the exception of the odd occasions when the locals have parties, is usually quiet.
We have signs up because it is a shared house and we have found that they really help in keeping it tidy. Most people appreciate this and the signs are good natured!
Fun house with a large group of people around. This room is in the main house, which can be a bit busy, however this room is very quiet and comfortable. It was also very warm and cozy on a cold night.

Hi we are a friendly international house, with people from the UK, Norway, Luxembourg, USA, Japan, Puerto Rico, Australia, etc. My husband and I came from Britain and fell in love with Cusco. We wanted to rent a house and stay here, and when we saw this one we knew that it was the one for us. We spent 2 months bringing up to standard, eg by ripping out the old 'Cusco' electric showers, and fitting brand new and super-hot ones, decorating, and building a kitchen with modern amenities where people who love cooking feel happy. The result is something unique in Cusco, a house where people live because they want a real home, and where people take pride to keep it clean and tidy for us all to use.
We have a variety of interests, but one thing is constant: that we love travelling & meeting people. This is a relaxed & sociable house. You are welcome to join us.
