Interaction with Guests
I will be here to welcome guests and to help you settle in. Thereafter, as much interaction or as little as you wish.
Ffaldybrenin is a small hamlet, about 20 houses surrounded by farms, fields and lanes. Ffarmers is the next village, 1 mile away with pub, and Post Office three mornings a week. The nearest town is Lampeter, 6 miles away (a delightful 2hr walk).
There is a twice weekly bus through the village, running between Lampeter and Llandovery. And on the other days, another one along the main A482, a mile away. Regular buses each day to Lampeter from Aberystwyth in the north and Carmarthen/Swansea/Cardiff in the south. Trains to Aberystwyth, Carmarthen or Llanwrda (Heart of Wales line). Pick-up possible in Lampeter or a train station. Walking is along quiet lanes, and a delight.
Other Things to Note
The Nomad's Rest is an ideal writer's or artist's retreat, with desks and bookcases in the bedroom. Use of piano for musicians. Resident language tutor (English, French, Catalan, Latin, Greek). Long term stays by arrangement - please enquire about arrangements and terms that can be made to suit your requirements.
Hafan y Crwydryn is a house where people come to enjoy peace and tranquility so there are no televisions in the bedrooms. On an occasion when I may be watching in the lounge you are welcome to join me. Radios are provided in the bedrooms, with headphones if other guests may be disturbed.
Wifi is available, with a small charge made only for extensive downloading.
No smoking in or near the house, please - but plenty of space round about.
Lovely little house in beautiful mid Wales countryside, jenny was the perfect host
Jenny was a great host. We had a fantastic time in her place. We really appreciated Jenny house. The bedrooms were very comfortable and bathroom was very spacious for the 5 of us.
On top, we had a great breakfast with home-made stuffs. Cherry on the cake, Jenny talks French which was highly appreciated by my parents who don't speak English.
I would recommend this location to anyone and I would be happy to come back again to her place if I have the chance to visit this part of Wales again!
Jenny's place is cozy, clean and so comfortable! We never got to meet Jenny but she has left us note and informed us everything we needed to know. We enjoyed the countryside stay, chatting and playing cards in front of the fire, had a fab night. One thing I have to mention, the eggs Jenny prepared for us (freshly laid by neighbour's hen) were absolutely delicious! the best eggs I had in years, these are things money can't buy.
Jenny is a wonderful host. After meeting me at the bus stop she drove me to some points of interest (especially a Welsh Quilt Studio). Jenny provided breakfast, fruit, etc. Thank you Jenny for inviting me into your home and being generous with your time. I will certainly recommend you too other Aussies. Lyn
Jenny was a delightful host - friendly, easy to converse with and very accommodating during our short stay.
The rooms were comfortable, tastefully decorated and themed from Jenny's travels, and the breakfast was fantastic - including local jam and eggs, as well as fresh fruit from the garden.
We really enjoyed our short stay at The Nomad's Rest, and would love to return in the future.
What a lovely room in a lovely Welsh Rural setting. Jenny was a lovely hostess, the room was tidy and the breakfast delicious. Just bee careful to close the gate so the sheep don't get in.
About the Host, Jenny
Hi! I moved to Wales after working around the world and am enjoying life in the peace and tranquility of the country. When I'm not still working (on ancient manuscripts), I enjoy singing, learning Welsh, walking and gardening. And getting to know new people. I speak fluent French and Catalan, and apart from Welsh can manage a bit of German, Italian, Spanish. I host language tuition at the house and can tailor courses to suit individual needs
