  • If you want to have a true Guanajuato experience, this is an excellent choice of place to stay. It is located just close enough to everything you will want to see and just enough off the beaten path to provide a place of respite and calm.

The little apartment has everything you need and is beautifully decorated and furnished. There is a wonderful little balcony overlooking the plazuela. During the day, you hear the children from the school across the plazuela. In the evening, you can sit and people watch or some local students might be rehearsing a play. At night, there may be marauding groups of musicians, crowing roosters and church bells.

The bed and chair are very comfortable, the tv has quite a few stations in english and the little kitchen area a small fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a few utensils. There is everything you need for your morning coffee and for warming up your leftovers for a late night snack.

Tere is a wonderful hostess, available but not intrusive. You can hear very little from her home downstairs and the apartment feels very private. She personally drove me back to my car which I had abandoned after 2 hours of driving in circles and showed me the parking lot that is less than a block from her place.

A few things to be aware of. If you have issues with walking up stairs or hills, this may be a bit difficult. Guanajuato is a late night and noisy place. If you need complete darkness and silence, you are going to have difficulty here. The apartment is accessed through a very narrow circular stairway, so If you carry large pieces of luggage, this might not work out for you.

In closing, I love Guanajuota and found Tere's apartment to be the perfect setting. I would absolutely recommend it and would return there if I am every lucky enough.

  • Tere is a wonderful, friendly and attentive host. Her studio is small but well organized and impeccably clean. The location is perfect, plaza Mexiamora absolutely charming. We made wonders on the one burner because produce in Mexico is so fresh and delicious.
TV and internet work very well.
Tere also took us to the airport for a reasonable fee and we were very grateful.
    Thank you, Tere!

  • For the two of us the place was wonderful. Being an early riser myself, the kids playing in the plaza in front of the apt. were an amusing ting to watch from the little balcony while having my morning coffee. Being right in the center of Guanajuato is rather important unless you want to walk up and down steep hills. So the location was perfect. Tere was lovely and her children very sweet and charming. The place itself was very stylish and comfortable. Do note that the spiral staircase is small if you have large luggage. If you arrive before 3pm on weekdays Tere has to be picking up her children from school. But there is a great little restaurant across the little plaza with outside seating facing the apt. We just left our bags at the door and had some drinks while waiting. Speaking some spanish is very helpful.

  • Tere's studio is very well situated on small plaza behind the Teatro Principal. Locals sit and visit, schoolchildren play there during the day but by night it is still and quiet. A very small store is on the plaza and a small grocery store is around the corner. A walk to the main squares are only minutes away. The studio is up a spiral staircase (beware of trying to get larger suitcases up them) . There is no light there so it is helpful to have a flashlight so as to see the key hole. There is cold bottled water, a small fridge, a hot plate and microwave and a few dishes and pots and pans. Get ground Cuban coffee from the tiny Conquistador Café in town, where they roast it on site, and you can enjoy a cup on the small patio in the mornings while overlooking the comings and goings on the plaza. Tere was helpful but has almost no English. Her eldest daughter was able to translate. The only things missing were a towel rack (or hooks) for wet bathroom towels and hooks in the bedroom for clothes. There is a large chest of drawers. A bonus is a nice hot shower- something not always found in Mexico!

  • This was the perfect location and apartment for my week long stay in Guanajuato! This location simply cannot be beat! The apartment is as described. It is very clean, plenty of hot water and great WiFi and TV. I didn't mind the grade school noise or Tere's family activities, but be aware that mornings are not the quietest time of day. I was able to cook on the 1 burner hot plate, but wished there had been an actual little refrigerator as the bottom compartment of the water cooler was tiny and not really cold enough to store food.
All in all it was a great experience and I would certainly stay here again and recommend this apartment to my friends. Oh...go eat at Los Campos restaurant. Fantastic!

  • Enjoyed a great stay with Tere in Guanajuato. The studio was private, well furnished, and in an amazing location just behind the Teatro Principal and a block from the main square. It offers all the basic functions, a small Terrace facing onto the quaint Mexiamora Square, and superfast wireless and a million channels on TV if you want to relax after a long days walking (and eating!).

Tere was friendly and accomodating despite her seemingly busy schedule. I'd stay with her again in a heartbeat - Guanajuato is a magical, beautiful little place.

  • This is a charming studio apartment. It was clean, comfortable, and the location is unbeatable. We were in Guanajuato for a week, which is plenty of time for a town this size, and explored what seemed like every nook and cranny. We think the plaza this apartment overlooked was the prettiest, steps to the center yet quiet and peaceful. Only thing was that the hot water in the shower didn't last very long so plan for quick showers. The spiral staircase to get to the apartment is steep but not a big inconvenience if you are careful. Tere was a great host and very responsive. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for comfort, value, convenience, and charm.

  • Unbeatable location 2 minutes on foot from the main plaza yet on completely pedestrianized square so totally quiet. Excellent value and Tere a great host. Two things you might want to know: entrance up a narrow spiral staircase in case you have physical issues; not the brightest apt. I highly recommend. (Note that mini fridge is inside water cooler.)
