Enjoy a peaceful get-away in this European designed Charleston single home 10 min from Downtown Charleston. Sit on the front porch overlooking East Lake in the I'ON Community, or walk alongside the marsh trail at the back of the neighborhood.
You will experience life in a Charleston single home in a TND community. You are welcome to enjoy sitting on the front porch overlooking Eastlake and sipping a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. You can step out and walk in the beautiful I'ON neighborhood around 2 lakes (.97miles) and alongside the marsh (3miles). The beach is only 15 minutes away and you can be in Downtown Charleston in about 10 minutes. You can walk to some restaurants and a few shops.
The guests have access to their room, the bathroom close to their bedroom and the first floor living areas--kitchen, dining room, living room and family room, including the front porch. During your stay we want you to feel at "home away from home."
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy people and love community living. Lunch and Dinner are not included in the price, but could be made available if desired.
You can even make arrangements to turn your stay into a "cooking get-away" with a French twist (additional fees apply). Real food for Real People On the Go are " Mumsy's recettes" created by Elisabeth. We can accomodate up to 6 guests--perfect for a girls week-end away, or for 3 couples, cooking delicious (healthy) foods while enjoying each other.
Your stay could also be a time of personal renewal, or a time of RR as a couple, or anything else that might be on your mind and heart.
Steven is American and Elisabeth is French. We met in Zaire in December 1980 and have been married for 32+ years. One of our adult daughters lives with us while in graduate school as well as our English Springer, Boaz. We have more rooms available for guests so you might even meet some other very interesting people.
We love the friendly people that live here. We feel very blessed to live in such an amazing place, where we see wildlife on a daily basis as we walk our dog. One of the thing we love about this neighborhood is that we can retrieve to the marsh walk and spend some time in one of the many chairs alongside the marsh and think for a while as we listen to the wind's music in the marsh grass. We love going for a run or walk there also. Even though we are still in the neighborhood, we have a feeling of being away.
Some public transport available, but not reliable. A few restaurants and shops are in walking distance as well as a public library.
Other Things to Note
Kayaking on the lakes is much fun. The home is peaceful and we value a servant's heart. We have a desire to make your stay memorable and a time of personal growth and rest. Charleston is home to Spoleto Arts Festival every end of May to early June.
We are a joyful family with much laughter and love, yet we enjoy a calm home. You are welcome to make yourself at home. Please clean up you after yourself. If you use something please be so kind and replace it. No smoking on any part of the premises.
Highly recommended! We felt welcome from the minute we arrived. Elisabeth and her family seemed to genuinely enjoy getting to know new people and they were helpful in every way possible. The location was lovely and quiet, yet only a few minutes from Charleston's historic district in one direction and beachfront restaurants in the other. Breakfasts were delicious and creative. The lake view, cool breezes, and birdsong made the covered veranda a welcome restorative spot after a day of sightseeing.
We felt like we were coming home to a wonderful family. Elisabeth, her husband and daughter were so warm and welcoming. They have had a lifetime of taking in and welcoming guests so it was natural for them to have airbnb guests. Our room was bright and comfortable. They really went beyond what we expected to make us and other guests feel welcome. The neighborhood is beautiful and very convenient for us to get to the water and to downtown Charleston in just a few minutes.
I spent 4 days in Elisabeth's home with my Girlfriend. Our trip was amazing. Elisabeth, her husband, her daughter, and the other guests were all very nice and welcoming. We shared meals and long conversations. The guest room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend staying with Elisabeth on your next trip to Charleston.
The house is even better than the photos. Elizabeth and Steven are so welcoming and generous with their time and sharing their lives so openly. I learned a lot that will stay with me. What a wonderful haven for all who have the luck to pass through their doors. You will love the experience and relish the memories. We did.
Helene and John. Wow! What great guests but also hosts you were while in our home... Thank you for using your experience and knowledge to encourage several of your fellow guests. Just beautiful. You were part of creating a "wonderful haven for all" enjoying the home while you called it "your home" away from the snowy tucked away, up the hill, home in VA. Thank you for sharing yourselves with all of us.
Elisabeth is a natural hostess. She is extremely warm and welcoming and both the house and neighborhood are lovely. My bed was so comfortable.
So very sorry about the half'n half for your tea. I am not sure why I didn't make it clear that there was regular milk and coconut milk in the fridge also. Perhaps it was hiding behind the left door of the refrigerator. :(
Thank you for bringing it to my attention, I will make sure that I inform future guests about all the choices. Thank for being a delightful host, grateful even for the little things.
My stay in Elisabeth and Steven's home exceeded my expectations as they were so welcoming, friendly and helpful, sharing their time and a wealth of information about the area. Their home is absolutely beautiful and my room was a very private, lovely, sunny, comfortable room. The neighborhood is charming and extremely convenient to Charleston and the surrounding area. I definitely plan to stay with my hosts again. Elisabeth and Steven, thank you for a wonderful experience.
This was such a wonderful experience! It really exceeded our expectations. The room and bath were spacious, clean, and comfortable. But most importantly, Elisabeth, Steven and family were so incredible! They were the most fabulous host! We felt SO WELCOME in their home, not to mention the food was excellent! It is my sincere hope we'll see them again one day soon. I would choose their home over any other on this site.
