Welcome to our mini retreat! Park in the easement by the cypress tree in front, and go up the stairs to the blue gate. Enter and voila, the Monterey Bay! Check out the large deck, relax,
then come on in. We're expecting you!
My news this season is that I'm now able to offer my guests sole use of all the main apartment, deck, and loft. My space on the ground floor is now self contained, so I have no need to share with you. I enjoy my privacy and respect yours. I want you to relax and enjoy my home, and your private space as you would your own. The bedroom space is open to the view, yet private and sound proof and entirely yours. So relax and enjoy your queen-size bed. Guests report it to be hugely comfortable with a down comforter and nice linens. Wrap yourself in a cozy, luxurious spa robe and slippers for you to borrow during your stay. Perfect to go back to bed with morning coffee, or end your day with a good book and pleasant thoughts. Sweet dreams! In the loft also is a long table for you to set up your work space. There is a chest of drawers and rack for hanging clothes, and beach towels to borrow. Beside your bed is a charger for iPhones. And you have your PRIVACY! The easy carpeted stairs go to your full, private bathroom with shower.
Come to your private entry, through the blue gate, onto the very large deck and all, including the charming, lighted, gurgling fountain, propane fire pit flanked by comfy chairs, and propane barbecue grill and dining table, awaits you. Kick back, breathe deeply, relax, and follow your bliss. This deck at night has become one of my favorite places. To me it's magical! Step inside and the dramatic loft, dining room, kitchen, great room and full bath with shower are yours to enjoy. All private. The kitchen is fully equipped. For breakfast there's a Keurig beverage maker with coffee, tea, and cocoa, fruit, yogurt and granola. Enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine, or Martinelli's sparkling cider. Your choice. After all, you're in California. Several days before your arrival I'll ask you to tell me which and what kinds of these you prefer, so I can have them onboard for you. So breakfast might look like juice, granola & yogurt, toast or muffin, & coffee or tea. Do you use cream or milk? Anyway, you get the idea, but I'll try to tailor to your wishes,
Interaction with Guests
My whippet, borzoi (Russian wolfhound) and I have our spaces downstairs. We're all quiet and don't bark. Any or all of us are here to talk, answer questions, or make suggestions. Your comfort is our goal! Please note: I charge only a nominal cleaning fee, so please leave home clean as you found it!!!
We're located in a lovely, quiet, family neighborhood. Not a party place; we respect our neighbors! Gotta happen. Thanks for respecting our boundaries inside and out! We have a 2 nights minimum. After all, it is my HOME, and not a hotel. At the same time, your comfort and wishes are a priority for me! Thanks.
There is a bus line 2 blks. away. Car or bike is better.
Other Things to Note
Setup not suitable for toddlers or small children. Not kid proof or appropriate. Guests must be 21 yrs. or older. You are afforded great privacy and respect. After check in orientation, I basically interact with you only at your request. But I love to hear your stories and about your life if you want to share.
House rules are based on common courtesy, remembering that this is my home. Since I have 2 dogs, please leave additional pets home. If you need to smoke, please close the doors, and do so outside on the deck, and mind your butts. Thanks.
I truly enjoyed spending my time at Paula's house. With an amazing view and perfect location it has everything you need. I would say it was one of the best vacations I ever had. I wish I could stay longer. Thank you so much Paula. I would highly recommend this place to stay.
Beautiful retreat on the hills, awesome view and neighborhood. Paula keeps her beautiful house cozy and warm, fully stuffed kitchen, barbeque grill and fire pit, comfy bed and friendly dogs as a nice addition. 7 min drive or 20 min nice walk to the local beach which was never crowded, clean and serine! Huge patio is a nice place for morning breakfast or romantic dinner. Recommend and will stay again at the first convenience.
There's not much to add that hasn't already been covered in previous reviews except maybe the longer you stay the more it feels like home and the harder it is to say goodbye. Thanks to Paula (and Neiman and O'Ryan) for a memorable stay in a wonderful property. This is a great place to relax and refresh and an ideal base to explore the Monterey peninsula. We will be back again.
Paula was a great host along her two well behaved regal dogs. The place was beautiful on a hill which gave us a view of the ocean from afar. The large windows gave us a feeling of a large open space. Unfortunately it rained the next day so we couldn't enjoy the patio. Overall we had a great experience and Santa Cruz was just several miles away offering all the dining and beach activities anyone can want.
Amazing listing, with two friendly dogs. Paula is a wonderful host and I was glad to get to know her
Paula and her lovely home are a wonderful oasis in the Santa Cruz area. The house is as lovely as the pictures show it and Paula keeps it very clean & organized. The bedroom and bed linens are very cozy and overall the space was just wonderful. I did have the house to myself and didn't even know Paula was livign there. Paula is a very gracious host who makes sure to feel you welcome, gives you good tips for the area & respects yoru privacy. Her dogs are delightful too. I would highly recommend for anyone to stay with Paul if you are looking for a quite, spacious & comfortable home in the area. thank you Paula! ;-)
My husband and I had a wonderful post-Christmas respite at Paula's. It's a lovely, comfortable place, with sumptuous views and a really really nice deck, which we were unable to use because it was too cold. Next time. Paula, and her two sweet dogs, had wine and snacks waiting for us, which we weren't expecting.
I'm retired but have so many interests that opportunities still present themselves. Always curious about how life works. I'm an avid reader . With a good book, I can imagine anything and go anywhere. I love my family and extended family --- son, daughter, friends, and pets. While eating is great, I get stalled in the kitchen. I'll grow it and clean up if you'll cook. Please. Sunny days make me happy. Life on the Central Coast is good, and I'm grateful to live here!
