Our hosts kindly collected us from the airport, and at the property we were greeted with a bottle of wine, some home produced olive oil and a delicious salad. The property itself is charming and matched the description closely. The balcony commands a wonderful view over an olive grove and being early summer lots of wild flowers were in bloom. It is in a authentic Cretan neighbourhood and the local taverna welcomed us with warmth and generosity. Pamela and Emanuelle were available for tips and advice but afforded us space and privacy. As such, I would rate them as perfect hosts. I would recommend hiring a car to explore the whole island as it is a very beautiful and friendly place. We enjoyed a fabulous holiday and would love to one day return. Thank you to our hosts and to our friends who recommended staying here.
I spent 10 days in the chalet in February (so bad weather and low season), but it was still perfect to me. If you want to visit Crete, I think this is the best place to stay : it's 5 min from the airport, and from the city center of Heraklion but you won't feel like being in the city since the chalet is on the top of a hill, between the olive trees, and it's very relaxing (especially with the sea view). Also Pamela and Emmanuel were amazing hosts, and they were paying attention to anything I could need. I didn't expect that much (I arrived at 7 pm, I thought I would need to go right away to the supermarket but Pamela already prepared a cretan salad and everything was in the fridge for breakfast, and Emmanuel had lighted up a fire in the wood stove). I would definitely choose this exact same place if I needed to come back to Crete.
I came to Crete after visiting Norway and Denmark. I saw Pamela and Emanuel's chalet online and it looked nice. It looked warm. I didn't realize how perfect it would be though. Emanuel picked me up at the airport then Pamela got me settled into the chalet. I listened, sort of, to the instructions about how to use the appliances in the chalet, but I was distracted by the view. The view is incredible. That's a good thing, because I had many days to look at that view.
When I woke up the next day, a fierce storm was ripping over the island. Rain, snow, hail and wind pelleted the chalet for 3 days. Thunder and lightening raged. But I didn't care.
I felt immediately at home in the chalet. Pam and Emanuel checked with me daily to see if there was anything I needed. Emanuel even took me on a couple excursions into the mountain villages to stave off cabin fever. When the storm ended I used the bike to explore. As I rode around Karteros canyon, I realized how lucky I was to have found the chalet and Pamela and Emanuel. Staying there made me feel like I was at home. And for me, that's what traveling is all about. Thanks guys.
From the first second I felt at home in the chalet! The warm welcome of Pamela and Emmanuel, their kindness and availability makes you feeling good even after a long trip. Everything you need for the first night is in the chalet, a delightful salad and fabulous home made wine, olive oil and olive oil soap are waiting for you. The view from the beautiful terrace is breathtaking and at the same time you have your privacy. It's like a cosy nest! During the evening (I was there in december), I appreciated a lot the fireplace which improved the warm atmosphere of the place. A very peaceful place to rest in a beautiful environment. The location of the chalet is very convenient, at only 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the center of Heraklion, very easy to visit Crete from there. Pamela and Emmanuel are always available to help you or give you advices for the visits or about the everyday life in Crete. Thank you a lot for this unforgettable stay!
A fantastic holiday in a cute house with incredible hosts!
The small house is cozy and functional and was alone sufficient for me. The terrace overlooking the canyon to the sea is unique. Pamela and Emmanuel are attentive and warm-hearted people who work very hard for their guests and try to introduce them to Crete. Even on a birthday gift was intended!
There would have to write a lot of positives - I can only recommend a holiday at these great people easy!
Thank you for everything ...
