WE OFFER COMPETITIVE MONTHLY RATES!
In addition to this room, we also have the following rooms available:
For those who don't like to share, we also offer a spacious apartment big enough for 4-5 guests:
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK: There are no lifts in this building. Guests who come with heavy or lots of luggages are respsonsible for their own handling since Nic suffers from back problems. This is one room within a shared apartment. You may end up sharing the place with 1-3 other guests, or have it completely to yourself, depending on time of year. Also, we ourselves do not live in the apartment, but a few streets away.
About the room: 1983 features a vintage bunk bed from Shanghai. In line with Chinese practice, it is a 'firm' mattress, and the occasional Western guest finds it 'uncomfortable'. This is typical of traditional beds, which is part of the authentic experience we're trying to create.
We are not a hotel so please double check with us on any items you may need. We've had guests expecting us to provide laundry, ironing board, etc. When in doubt, please ask!
PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR SINGLE NIGHT BOOKINGS THERE'LL BE A SURCHARGE OF USD$10.
Located in the 'Heart of Kowloon', on the 4th floor of a traditional 'walk-up' building in Mong Kok, our nostalgic apartment offers you a genuine glimpse of life for the common folks of Hong Kong.
The building is conveniently located within close walking distance to a variety of things:
- across the road from A21 (airport express) bus stop
- 3 min. walk to Prince Edward MTR station
- 5 min. walk to the Goldfish Market
- 7 min. walk to Fa Yuen Street Market (bargain-priced fashion)
- 7 min. walk to the Flower Market
- 10 min. walk to the Yuen Po Street Bird Garden
- 10 min. walk to the garment and electronics district
- 9 min. walk to Mong Kok East MTR station (direct line to New Territories and Shenzhen)
In addition, China travel agencies and bus/train companies are literally across the road, making journeys to and from the mainland extremely easy to arrange.
And being in the 'Heart of Kowloon', it really doesn't take long to get to other cultural gems:
- 5 min. on the subway to Ladies Market, Temple Street Night Market, Jade Market.
- 10 min. on the subway to get to Hong Kong Island.
Nice experience. Thanks for the Nic and Trig giving us the good memory in Hong kong.
Nic and Trigs place is just perfect! Its really central in the Mongkok area, right next to the metro yet slightly off the main road so surprisingly quiet night in a busy area. Theres plenty of good food around and feels like you are in the very heart of HK. Its right above a 7/11 and there is a real feeling of warmth in the apartment. Thank you SO much for all the suggestions, tea and the help. You will feel so much at home staying in their awesome flat! Will definitely be back if I'm visiting HK again :)
The room was located in a very central location that was very ideal. It was near to an MTR and easy to get around and even to explore by foot as there was many interesting things around.
The room and apartment was also very nicely decorated, a nice vintage and old school feel. It was a nice touch to our stay in HK making us feel as if we are living in HK rather than just visiting.
Nic was also a very helpful and gracious host. He was also just a call away! He gave us many suggestions for places to eat at and visit. It was a much appreciated gesture (:
Overall it made our first time in Hong Kong feel very enjoyable and we felt at home (:
This is, quite simply, a really nice place managed by really nice hosts. I had a pleasant time and couldn't wish for more.
Nic and Trig's apartment allows you to have a unique experience in HK because the decor in each of the rooms provides a little slice of the 60's, 70's or 80's and it's location in the neighbourhood of Mong Kok means it isn't overrun by tourists.
The apartment is clean and comfortable: It was nice to wake up on a morning being able to have a hot shower and then make a cup of tea or coffee whilst using the wifi to plan the day ahead. It's also in a great location to get wherever you'd like to go as Prince Edwards MTR station is only three minutes walk away.
There's no doubt in my mind where I'll be staying when I go back to HK.
Would like to thank Nic and Trig for creating this space. The layout is tasteful and the whole apartment roomy. I especially like the book collections in the common area and the board where business cards of useful contacts/places of interests are stuck. Nic's a lovely host - upon meeting us he helped lug our luggages up and provided us some tips on where to go. Would not hesitate to stay at this place when I visit HK next.
Staying at Nic's was an absolute pleasure. The place is very easy to reach and it sits in the very middle of an awesome neighbourhood. The room is quite small but cozy and, most importantly, quiet (as opposed to all the previous experiences that I had renting rooms in Hong Kong). The atmosphere at the apartment is friendly and the careful attention given to the details in the rooms and in the common spaces makes the space definitely unique. Upon my arrival, Nic showed me around and suggested a couple of very valid places to visit in Hong Kong during the next days. Make sure you get to know this guy. His open mindedness and kindness are an absolute plus to the accommodation. To sum up, if you want a place smack in the middle of the city, if you love Wong Kar Wai's movies and if you wish to get a bite of that retro atmosphere just go for this place, you won't regret the choice.
Staying at Nic's was great - the apartment was exactly as described, we found the locaton ideal. Definately reccommend!
This was my first time in airbnb.
My friend and I stayed 1983 room for two nights.
Nic was a very welcoming host.
He helped us to carry luggage and get us to the bus stop.
He tried to give us detailed information about Honkong despite my poor English.
(The App "Open rice" was very useful to find nice restaurant)
The apartment is well located. Short walk to the subway.
Room was cozy and romantic.
Perfect in every way! I highly recommend :)
*** I suggest if you took a taxi, you'd better say exact address. There are two Metropark Hotel in Hongkong.
Taxi driver can be confused. "Metropark Hotel Mongkok, Prince Edward" is right place near the apartment.****
I will be back, Nic!
