Interaction with Guests
I interact with guests as much or as little as needed/wanted.
I love my neighborhood! A "working class" neighborhood with a variety of houses and friendly Costa Ricans. Very safe -- no problem walking around anytime, even after dark. It's a great "cultural immersion" and a chance to practice your Spanish.
There is convenient public transit with 10 buses a day that go through town to/from other parts of Costa Rica. Local taxis are also available.
Other Things to Note
Not far from the 18,000 hectare rainforest of the Tenorio National Park and the hike to the beautiful Rio Celeste.
No smoking, no drugs, no "parties" - I would not want to offend my quiet neighbors! It's a simple and quiet life and beautiful for those who are looking for that.
Harriet was a really great host! She gave great directions to her place and was readily available to help us however we needed it. Her house was as listed, very charming inside, very sweet dog, and she made us a great breakfast with local foods. The neighborhood was pleasant with a fun ice cream shop, supermarkets, and places to eat close by. Harriet was knowledgable about the area and Costa Rica in general, we highly enjoyed our stay in Bijagua with Harriet.
Harriet is a friendly, helpful, thoughtful host. We truly enjoyed our stay in her home. Each morning she made us breakfast that was delicious. Harriet took us to a farm just after our arrival and we saw a baby calf hours old being cared for, took a walk on the trails and saw their gardens. Close to so many activities and parks, yet you can enjoy the local flavor of a small community. One of Harriet's first question was what do you want to do while you are here? Then she would help us with arrangements, directions, and offer more suggestions. Just up the road is Talapias Angel, they grow their own fish, and you get to pick your dinner and walk their grounds while your dinner is being prepaired. Like staying at Harriets they are gems not to be missed!
Un séjour agréable et reposant auprès d'Harriet qui met tout en œuvre pour nous faire plaisir. Un bon rapport qualité prix.
It was wonderful staying at Harriet's house! She is super nice and very knowledgable about Costa Rica. Her house is in a great location and you can easily walk to great restaurants. She made us an awesome breakfast in the morning and her dog is super sweet. I would definitely stay with her again.
