Thanks so much to Marcia and her family for her hospitality and kidness.
Marcia and her daughter have been very nice to me. They gave lot of advices and have been very charmig hosts. Alsways helpfull if I needed something. The room was nice, with a nice view and fresh wind was blowing the whole day, so it was not so hot to stay. I sleeped very well and had a ver y good time. I can recommend it with no doubt. I would stay again in case to come back to Rio de Janeiro.
I highly recommend staying with Marcia if you're coming to Rio! From the moment I arrived she and her family were incredibly warm and welcoming. If you want somewhere that feels like a home away from home, then this is it.
Up in the hills above Botafogo the house is in a beautiful spot with great views over the city below. The area is very safe and it's nice and quiet at night.
Marcia and her family are very easy going and friendly, they don't insist on lots of rules and you feel at home right away. If you're looking for a place to stay in Rio and are would like an alternative to a hostel then this is definitely a great option!
For transport you're a 5-10 min walk to Botafogo metro which will take you south to Copacabana or Ipanema and north towards Centro. The location is good if you want to get out of the touristy areas of zona sul without being too far away from the sights. In fact both Cristo and Pão de Azucar are nearby.
Our stay at Marcia´s house couldnt have been better. We stayed even two days longer than planned. The rooms are really lovely, we were very surprised about the Klimt picture on our wall, as we are from Austria :D !! We had a beautiful view out of the balcony.
We also got friends with the dogs!!!The neighbourhood is safe, but you have to walk about 10 minutes from the metro / (email hidden)s up the hill...a lot of steps to take, so be prepared!!!!!!!
Marcia made us a delicious breakfast a few times and never let us go out of the house without a coffee!!!
We would definitely stay at her place again!
Thank you Marcia, Tainah, Stefanie and Paula :)
Large, clean, airy double room with plenty of space and a balcony that gives you a fantastic view that illustrates emphatically just what a beautiful city Rio De Janeiro is. Located in a quiet and safe area in the hills of Botafogo it took me about 10 mins to walk down to the metro station, shops, bars and restaurants. Not too far at all from Copacabana, Impanema and Lapa - it was an excellent location for me.
Marcia and her daughter Tainah are very nice people, very friendly, hospitable, knowledgable about the city and great to talk to.
Overall, my stay there goes beyond what I could have expected or hoped for. I miss it already, but I will be back. Muito obrigado Marcia!
Nice, clean and very friendly. A bit out of the way but difficult to get to. A little bit expensive but short term stay in Rio seems to be very expensive, so not a bad deal. I stayed there for a week while I was working in Rio and had a good experience.
Marcia is a very hospitable person, who literally opened her arms and her house to me, during my recent stay in Rio. This was especially important to me, since I didn't know anybody & barely spoke the language. It's quite a different experience living with a host family, my 1st one, but I have only good memories, not regrets! BTW, the area, Botafugo is about a 10 min walk, then 5 min subway ride to Copa and the beaches.
