About this listing
A cozy, private retreat conveniently located in the Laurel Highlands. Fallenwood, is a nature inspired, custom built cabin nestled along a pretty little mountain stream on six wooded acres. Although secluded it is far from remote, providing easy access to all the area has to offer. The local area attractions abound... Seven Springs & Hidden Valley ski resorts, three Frank Lloyd Wright houses, most notably Fallingwater, and multiple State Parks, like Ohiopyle! The area is home to three different rail to trail bike paths. There are also two local wineries with beautiful tasting rooms and several well recommended restaurants close by. The possibilities are endless, especially for outdoor activities like hiking, downhill and cross country skiing, white water rafting, biking or just relaxing by the fireplace. The floor plan is open and bright, allowing you to be in nature, with views of the woods and stream even when keeping cozy and warm inside.
Please no pets. And please keep smoking to outside.
I will leave some firewood on the front porch for your stay, but it's valuable since I get it on my own and split it by myself. If you need more, please let me know and we can discuss.
Janice's cabin is just wonderful and she was a great host. It was one of the nicest weekends away I have had in a long time, we really felt rejuvenated after spending a few days there. I cannot wait to rent it again.
This cabin was absolutely dreamy. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Janice was very accommodating and generous with hiking and travel suggestions. Here are some of my favorite aspects of the property:
1 - The drive-up WOW factor. It looks like a storybook cottage.
2 - The creek running alongside the property. The sound of rushing water while falling asleep is so relaxing. I highly recommend taking coffee down to the footbridge in the mornings.
3 - The tiny details throughout the house that show it is a truly loved place. For example, the curtain rods are made out of twigs; the bird "visitors" list.
4 - The fire-pit bordering the forest. Getting cozy next to a fire while watching the last strands of sunlight disappear through the trees.
I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.
Our stay at Janices cabin was great. The description was accurate, in fact, it was even nicer than we expected. The drive way is funky and steep but well worth it because you are then in a secluded spot, with a bubbling stream, fire pit, and endless woods as company. The interior is very well kept, and very easy to be in. The beds were very comfortable, great kitchen, great libray full of nature book and many windows. We felt quite welcome.
Janice was a GREAT host. She was quick to respond to any questions I had and sent detailed directions. The cabin is so lovely and so well-appointed, has everything you need. It felt more like I was staying at a friend's place for the weekend, not a business transaction.
Very cozy cabin with easy access to Seven Springs and picturesque Ligonier.
A great little getaway to forget about life for awhile. The cabin is supper clean and very quaint.
What a lovely place to truly get away. We spent 3 days relaxing, waking in the woods, watching the birds and enjoying a fire. We selected this as a base for our visit to Fallingwater and Ohiopyle. A little bit of a drive to and from but well worth it.
Janice had the place it tip-top shape and it was exactly as she described. Highly reent for anyone looking to escape to a cozy cabin in the woods.
