First, the apartment is charming, the room spacious, bathroom as (website hidden) is full of light, has tall ceilings, beautiful moldings and floors. Monik's apartment is on the fourth floor and has a beautiful staircase on the way up.There is also a spot to park that is private. Then there is Monik; charming, helpful and a gourmet cook. My daughter is moving there and Monik was extremely generous with her time and was beyond helpful. She prepared a vegetarian supper complete with a cheese plate, a scrumptious beet salad, roasted potatoes and squash soufflé. Oh, and rhubarb crisp for dessert. Our best meal in Valence and we were there for five days! Breakfast is homemade breads, jams, yogurt, and fruit. Yum. If you are looking for more than a place to stay, and hoping to experience a meaningful cultural exchange we recommend you stay with Monik. We had a wonderful visit.
We had a wonderful stay at B&B L'Aubergine. The room was very comfortable and spacious and facilities were great. Monik is a great hostess and a fantastic cook. I would definitely take her up on the dinner option she offers! The B&B is located just a short walk to the town center. I would stay here again in a heart beat! Merci Monik!!
Monik was a wonderful host: both personable and professional. Her home is open and airy with interesting and peaceful decor. She provided a wonderful breakfast with homemade bread and jam. She recommended sites and restaurants and invited us on a country-side adventure to go star gazing. She is knowledgable of French culture and is happy to help or provide privacy for her guests.
The best decision to chose Moniks "LÁubergine" for our stay in Valence. Monik was great and we really felt like home ! She served a delisious dinner at the evening and we had some good conservations at her balcony looking at the old village.
I also enjoyed her breakfast with selfmade bread and jam and my french-lesson with her - Monik is a good teacher and she was so nice to show me the market and gave us two bicycles for making a tour along the Rhone. If we will come to Valence once again we are happy to know the lovely B&B from Monik !
Monique and her apartment in the center of Valence are both amazing! She is a lovely and charming lady. She greeted us while making the crust for a torte; and asked us if we wanted dinner (at a more than fair -nominal charge). Dinner was served on her little patio, and Monique joined us. 4 courses including cheese, and also a bottle of wine. She cooks organically, with organic ingredients. We had a lovely conversation. It is a private suite - there is a hallway with a curtain off the living room/kitchen - where the toilet is, and down a small hall there is a very large bedroom with a comfortable bed, decorated perfectly! Then there is a large recently renovated bathroom with a big tub and hand held shower and sink. This is the center of a city; the sounds coming through the open window were of people enjoying their evening, a baby crying and a dog barking...it really was fine! There are 3 flights of steps up to her apartment, should you have a lot of luggage. Totally the place you should stay when in Valence!! Thanks, Monique! P.S. Well within walking distance to the Center of Valence, only 5 minutes away!
Moniks flat ist just wonderful. It has a typical warm french flair. The room is big and furnished with care. It`s a great place to stay. Monik is a very warm hearted host.
Monik is amazing. The apartment is beautiful. And she even bakes great breads. I would recommend her chambre d'hotes to anyone, but particularly if you're inclined toward art, music, food, wine and so on. And she is very patient in allowing us to practice our French. A perfect host.
The three of us had a perfect stay at B&B l'Aubergine for a five day visit to Valence. Monique picked us up at the train station, and every day we had a delightful breakfast waiting for us. We appreciated that Monique speaks some English and Spanish, and helped us with our French. Her B&B is a short walk to downtown along some very old streets - excellent photo-taking experience. Our room was large and quiet, the beds were comfortable, and the main/breakfast room was wonderfully colorful as you can see in the pictures. We highly recommend Valence as a place to visit (it's not on the main tourist track and therefore a good glimpse of daily life in France), and l'Aubergine as a comfortable, safe and pleasant place to stay.
My stay with Monique was very pleasant. When I arrived she offered me a delicious pumpkin soup. I arrived late so we did not talk a long time but it was really pleasant. Also she shared information with me about I house I might want to rent and I got acquainted with the music of an African group called Kora Jazz Trio. I immediately bought their music and I play it a lot. Thanks Monique! Room and bathroom are very nice, rather Zen, which I like. I slept well and she had prepared a nice breakfast for me so I can recommend staying at L'Aubergine Valence whole heartily!
