Balatoncsicsó, Hungary

North side of Lake Balaton is the traditional vacation place of the Hungarian noble. The panoramic view of the lake, hilly vineyards and almond orchards make the place inviting in all seasons. Balatoncsicsó is a dead-end village with ca. 200 inhabitant, living on mainly winemaking and tourism. Local shop and pub is run by the mayor of the village.
Tihany (20 km) is a picturesque peninsula with the Benediction Abbey; from here you can cross the lake by ferry. Zánka (7 km) is the nearest beach. Nagyvázsony (9km) is famous for its castle and church built in the 15. Century, you can visit many museums here. Káli basin, especially Köveskál (11 km) is well-known for its fine dining restaurants and wine. Káptalantóti (19 km) is famous for its Sunday-market, it is a meeting place of locals, tourists and weekend-house owners of the region. Szigliget castle is also close.

Until we had children, we've traveled a lot in the world; since we became a large family, we've been less mobile, but we're still open to the world by welcoming guests. We hope that all the help we have received in our travels can now be rewarded by showing our beloved countryside to those who stay with us. My husband and I both studied rural development.
