Casa Valeriana was a very nice, speacious apartment conventiant for travellers with car. It is within a gated community so limitations in walking distance. Since Puerto Rico requires a car regardless of where you stay I would highly recommend this apartment to others planning a trip to Luquillo. Alot of things to Explorer in the area and since the flat is close to the road no need to sit in traffic (which it is plenty off). Supermarkets short drive away. Many Thanks for everything Marilyn! We had a fantastic stay :)! / Dzejna & Mirsad

We stayed in 3 different apartments in PR, Casa Valeriana was the best. Very spacious, comfortable beds, nice and clean.

I would rate our stay at Casa Valeriana 2/5 because it is not well managed and it is not very easy to find if you are not familiar with the island. Here are some things that spoilt our stay: (1) about 2 days before we arrived Marilyn got in touch to suggest that we cancel our booking and find another place to stay! Can you imagine getting a message like that a few days before you are due to travel? Her reason was that she had discovered a fault with the gates and access meaning we would not be able to enter the complex. I insisted that we couldn't cancel at this late stage (our flights for 4 were booked and tickets issued and all decent accommodation in PR was fully booked because it was Christmas break) and so she came up with an arrangement that worked (but not after we had experienced the sort of stress and worry that starts your holiday on a bad note). (2) the flat itself is a little neglected-- the owner doesn't appear to spend much time in PR. When we arrived the guest toilets were blocked and the main bedroom toilet wasn't flushing properly and there was a leak which meant the floors were wet; in the kitchen, we found dirty plates ( it was all little yucky to be honest) The issues were resolved but to be honest, this was not how anyone would like any to start a holiday and these are things that could have been resolved before the guests arrived. In terms of location-- the apartment is in a complex which seems a little desolate and isolated. You can hear traffic from the balcony which,if you want a tranquil afternoon outside, is a problem. You need a car and best to double check the directions to the apartment with Marilyn before you arrive as the welcome packet directions miss a few important details. Also, the access code has been changed ( owner may forget to tell you that it's different from the one in the packet) and the Internet password is lowercase etcetc. Just double check everything before you go! So not out best accommodation experience, but PR itself is lovely. Advice-- insist on a walk- through and sign a document about state of apartment when you arrive. I didn't and had a long back and forth with Marilyn after we checked out. Luckily for me, the Airbnb Resolution center ruled in my favor... But you may not be so lucky.

Response from Marilyn:
Dear Ms. Thoko, I just want to thank you for your review. It's very clear that you are very upset and want to hurt my business. Nevertheless, I'm not going to take this opportunity to "defend" myself against your mendacious tales (Lets keep in mind that there are eighteen reviews -out of nineteen- talking about how clean was the unit and how happy guests were in general). Instead, I'm going to use it to thank you for teaching me a lesson. You reminded me that there are people who take advantage of others, and they are willing to act in any stupid way possible to do it, even lying about insignificant things if necessary. I must say that I am very disappointed with the situation because I really want to believe in humanity. This is the first time I deal with a person who stays in my house and, not only mistreats it, but lies all the time. For example, you reported water leak in all three toilets and a clogged one that were not real. Also, broke a door and tried to convince everybody that it was like that before your arriving (Come on!!! That was a real hyperbole). And, as it wasn't enough, you left the biggest mess of all. You mistreated my property and, on top of that, didn't want to take responsibility for what you did. It really made us laugh (a lot) when you argued that Airbnb Resolution center ruled in your favor... It was very funny to read your "review." After all, I just pity you, because you must be a very unhappy and frustrated person. Thanks again for staying in my property -and make me laugh with your occurrences written here. I hope you find a real purpose in live and start embracing honesty and respect as important qualities in life. Paz y amor sobre todo.

We had an awesome time at Casa Valeriana. The house was clean, spacious and very well equipped. From beach chairs and towels, a washer dryer, to a well stocked kitchen. Thanks Marilyn for hosting us!

Marilyn was easy to communicate with and gave us all the information needed to get there, without asking. The flat was roomy and really nice. Great view from the pool! Tip: You'll need a rental car to get around :-))
