About this listing
A very special little place right next to the boardwalk and steps from the beach. Be embedded in the action and SoCal lifestyle while keeping private and quiet. Experience the vibrant energy that pulsates here: all easily accessible by foot or skate!
This cozy beach loft is just steps away from the Pacific Ocean and the world famous Venice Boardwalk. It's a creative space that will inspire you during your stay in California. It's a little climb to enter and exit the bedroom, but easy for the young at heart and the ocean view is worth it. The area is safe and quiet. Internet and movie library available. Big TV, but you may not want to spend too much time watching tv. Currently there is no cable tv, only internet streaming (you will not be able to watch a lot of sports unless you order it separately, in advance). Serene, placid mornings and fantastic sunsets.
SORRY ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS OR OTHER PETS WEIGHING MORE THAN 2 OUNCES THANK YOU. LANDLORD'S POLICY NOT MINE.
All sorts of shops, restaurants, galleries, and fun is within walking distance. You can also rent bicycles and cruise along the bike path, surf the decent 1-2ft sets... forget about using your car for a while. Santa Monica and South Bay within comfortable cab ride distance and my place is just 15 min from LAX. You may find yourself not even wearing footwear for days!
This is yards from the beach and boardwalk, but QUIET. Venice has a strong community feel and you will meet a lot of interesting people. The loft is on the 2nd floor so you have a great view. Please inquire if you would like to stay shorter/longer time.
You can also see pictures here: (website hidden)
You have the entire apartment/loft to yourselves. You will be given a code for a lockbox a couple of days before your arrival. That way you can arrive whenever you would like. You can also leave the keys there when you are going to the beach.
Interaction with Guests
I really enjoy meeting with my guests and having a chat. Sometimes very often this is not possible and doesn't happen due to busy schedules on both parts. I usually play it by ear and give you a call in the evening and if it's convenient I will stop by and say hello. But I don't like to plan for it. That way you have your privacy and freedom.
This is a section of Venice that is still very much intact and original from way back, except it is not flooded anymore. It is a very unique mix of healthy lifestyle, creativity, the beach, and people from everywhere that culminate nicely here and have done so for many decades. It is getting gentrified also, but less intensely than the areas further inland, which are changing quickly.
Everything you need is accessible by foot easily. Markets, bars, restaurant, some night life. The beach is right there. I can give you bicycles that are a bit older but work fine. You only really need a car for sightseeing the city, going to Hollywood and driving up PCH Highway 1. Public transit is not bad at all between Venice and Santa Monica/the Westside. If you do decide to get a car I can give you a parking spot right at the building if you let me know.
Other Things to Note
This place is a bit ecclectic and untraditional. It helps if you are fit and willing to literally jump into bed or climb there. You might hit your head a couple of times until you are used to the space. But the location and the view are amazing and well worth it. Everybody loves it.
Some noise (music/parties) is ok as long as you are considerate and turn it down after a neighbor asks you to. Limited, out the window smoking ok.
Great location, great host! Matthias was very helpful and accommodating and his place was perfect for our visit. He was responsive and gave us detailed instructions about how to make the most of his apartment. This was out first time using airbnb, and it couldn't have gone any better!
Mathias gave great (illustrated) instructions on exactly how to check in. And checked in with us repeatedly by message during our reservation.
Matthias was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. This was our first Airbnb experience and it was perfect in every way. His place was weird (in the best ways possible) and its location in Venice Beach couldn't have been better. Literally 100 or so feet from the sand. Matthias was a perfect host.
Directly located at front walk of Venicebeach, one hour per walk to Santa monica...what's is great for the view and hanging out at the beach or go shopping to santa monica... apartment was small but enough space for two people and really cool arranged (haven't thought that someone could have so much space in so little room☺).. apartment has no air condition but with open windows it's okay to sleep there...at Venice Beach you have a big mix of people which has positive and negative aspects. ..was great to stay there. ..
It was amazing to stay at this a++ location in Venice Beach. The studio was very clean and Matthias was extremely helpful. Would go back at any time, it was wonderful!
Loved staying at this place! Really great location, looking onto the beach. Wish we could've stayed longer. The host, Matthias, was really friendly and helpful. He replied quickly and gave thorough and detailed instructions on how to get into the flat and how things worked, etc. It was unfortunate that we didn't meet as he seemed like a great guy!
We also bumped into two of the neighbours who were friendly and helpful.
A fun and funky little place to stay. Obviously not for everyone but perfect for younger travelers looking for good value accommodation and the opportunity to stay somewhere unique and in a great location. Can't get any closer to Venice Beach and great views of the beach and sunset. Matthias was an excellent host, although we didn't meet he provided heaps of info and was easy to contact making our stay a breeze. He also provides access to 2 Bicycles which was perfect to get around locally and on the boardwalk. Thanks again Matthias.
