Where you’ll be

Tarraleah, Tasmania, Australia

Tarraleah Estate is a picturesque piece of living history, located in the Tasmanian Central Highlands. A pleasant surprise off the highway that offers the perfect opportunity to get away from the ‘day to day’ and relax. Once a working town for Hydroelectric pioneers, Tarraleah has been refurbished and renovated to provide you with the perfect hideout or base for your next West Tasmanian adventure. Tarraleah is no longer an active town….. so alas, no grocery store, post office or even public toilets. Perfect for independent travellers, we offer self-contained accommodation with all the comforts of home. Our Cottages are beautifully styled in 1930s décor and our cabins are incredibly comfortable and functional.
While Tarraleah Estate can boast up to 20 Residents in the Summer, our winter population drops to a total of 4 people, with a few day time additions, and some very friendly (and always hungry) ducks, geese and hairy Highland cows. Base yourself here while visiting the Wall, Lake St Claire or for your next Fly-fishing adventure.
