The Space

Perfect location right beside at least 6-7 major tourist attractions, Plaza de España, magic fountain, the Palace of Montjuic, Poble Espanyol, las Arenas(famous spanish Iberic ham gourmet shop & many local restarants)and the Olympic Stadium, not to mention the Joan Miró museum and the La Caixa Forum(Art exhibition center and public library in an ancient reformed building).

Sunny room, sunshine from morning till afternoon. You will be in a tranquil and respectful property sharing with others, so we are not the place stay if you are a party animal.

During your stay with us you will be in one of the greenest parts of Barcelona, where a TaiChi group of hundreds of people practice from every Sat. & Sun. 9-11am. any level & cost free, if you are interested.

Walking to Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya & the beaches 15-17 mins.

Flats includes ADSL / Wifi with enough room furniture for your stay.

Only 30 Euro returnable deposit for the keys. Require neat persons. Please give a brief introduction of yourself, thanks.

Free parking available, right beside Palace of Montjuic visitor area -walking to home 5-8 mins, cross a park, or pay parking nearby 5 mins, 38€/daily, or 18€/9pm.-9am.

*****House rules:
Certain tidiness in the room is required and respect for others in the flat. As a new concept of rental, I ask my guests not too loud in our building or in the flat, a quietness is required after 11pm. by spanish law. Be careful when press the door bell, so the neighbours not be "bothered". Try to not fill the elevator with other neighbors, take the next one or use our clean spacious stairs, thank you.

The kitchen is only for breakfast, storing food and heating food in micro-oven, Barcelona have good bread, salami, ham and fruits etc, ( the guests stay here for more than 4 days, they can cook some warm meals) Thank you..... Do the laundry cost €5 every use.******

Try to keep the bathroom floor neat & dry. Ladies whom with long hair do clean up the hair after shower, otherwise your pretty appearance will reduce from 90% to 50%, :-)

******More about the local area, Plaza de España.

One of the city's biggest squares, it is the junction of several major thoroughfares: Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Avinguda del Paral·lel, Carrer de la Creu Coberta and Carrer de Tarragona, and leads to the Palau Nacional through Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, which houses one of Catalonia's finest museums, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC). It was designed by Josep Amargós. The fountain at the centre of the square was designed by Josep Maria Jujol, a collaborator of Antoni Gaudí, while Miquel Blay designed the statues. The buildings were designed by Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí.
Venetian Towers - they are 47 m (154 ft) tall and lead the way to the MNAC via Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, an avenue commonly used to host trade fairs.
Fira de Barcelona
Parc de Joan Miró - previously known as Parc de l'Escorxador (Abbatoir Park), it is nowadays named after the Catalan painter Joan Miró, whose 22-metre-tall statue Dona i Ocell (Woman and Bird) can be seen in one of its corners.
Arenas de Barcelona, a bullring - It was built in 1900 in the Moorish Revival style and has been converted into a shopping center.

  • You get what you pay for which is just a (clean) small room with a bed and a shared bathroom, but location is very nice and convenient.
Jen is very helpful and her father is a nice guy.

    Response from Jen:

The daily price is 27 Euro for 1-2 guests in high season, other cost went to city tax and our agent directly. From Nov.-Apr., 18 Euro/person or 27 E/2 persons. Come back to Barcelona, many many to enjoy more!

  • Jen's apartment was in a great location in Barcelona and was very easy to get to. There was a language barrier with her son, but we muddled through it and had a nice stay.

  • Great quiet neighborhood about a 5 minute walk from placa de Espana which has many sightseeing monuments and metro station. About 2.5-3 miles from la rambla. Jen was great at communication and responded to questions/emails in a timely manner. As far as the actual room: we shared a small room in a 4 bedroom flat/apartment. 2 of the other rooms had guests in them, we all shared one bathroom. Jen's father lives in the flat and was our host. However he does not speak english nor spanish, so communication was pretty difficult. I would ask questions etc via email with Jen. There was also a distinct smell in the apartment that one must get used to. Great place for those on a budget (backpackers and students) who don't mind the things I mentioned and who will not be spending much time in their rooms.

Changed our agreement cost some extra work, it should have been a more happy experience, but learnt a lesson, so was not bad. Happy hosting!

  • This Barcelona room rental is in a great location. Our room was very small but all we needed since we are not 'at home' often when we travel. It may not be the best choice if you want local companionship or advice (since language was a barrier) but the location and access to free parking worked for us!

  • PRO: LOCATION. It's a walking distance to one of popular attractions in Barcelona. Also, close to stores, shops, and everything!

CON: This room is not "sunny" at all. This room might be okay for backpacking travelers or students who are on budget and just stay for a couple days. Really really really noisy at night! I guess people don't sleep on the street. We stayed for two nights. Both nights, we couldn't go to sleep well due to very loud sound from the street, cars and people talking, laughing.

    Response from Jen:

Barcelona's night life is "you love or you hate', people are still walking, talking or playing at 2 or 3 clock the wee hours. Bring a back cushion to your husband during long travel. Sarah seems like to write write, but kind of too boss in other's home. I travelled a lot, 10 years experience with hotels, then I love to be an Airbnb guest since 2012, from hotels to other's home, same great feeling!

  • Attended an international conference in BCN so I was out of home most of the time. The room was nice - modest but functional. I didn't need more and the host was very kind. I didn't miss anything at all. Jen provided very valuable insights so it makes it easy for foreigners to get in touch with BCN :) - thumbs up!
