Welcome to the Lilac House! We invite you to step back in time to a gone-by era of nostalgia and forgotten memories. Our goal is to create a feeling of yesteryear and invoke feelings of simpler times. The house is located in the heart of Panguitch, about a 2-minute walk to all the shops on Main Street. Zion National Park is a 1-hour drive to its less crowded east-side entrance. Bryce Canyon is a 30-minutes away.
The space
ABOUT THE NAME
The name "Vintage Lilac" or "Lilac House" comes from the 12 or so aged lilac trees located on and around the property. (Grandma loved her lilac bushes!) In the springtime, the bush's branches burst with violet-colored blossoms and a sweet candy fragrance. And although Panguitch is famous for its many red-brick, pioneer-built homes, this particular home was built with bricks that have a dark "purple-y" hue to them, perhaps the only one of its kind. Now you know why we named it what we did.
COZY-UP!
The wood-burning fireplace is definitely available for a guest's use! However, we do not stockpile or provide firewood or kindling for our guests. Firewood can be picked up at various locations in town. Instructions on how to best get a fire going can be found on the last page of our guidebook.
CLEANING SURCHARGES
For groups/families traveling with 5 or 6 people, there is an additional $10 charge per person per night for the 5th & 6th occupants to cover the additional laundry/cleaning costs. (Really, more people means more cleaning!) Since 2018, we have always strived to keep this charge as low as possible. (My wife and I are always shocked whenever we travel and the Airbnb cleaning fee is $150 or more!) Our current rate is $55 and 100% of it goes to the cleaning crew. We do not keep any of that fee for ourselves.
WE GET IT, LIFE HAPPENS
Our refund policy is set at Airbnb's "Moderate" setting, allowing NO penalty for any cancellation made so long as it's done 5 days (or longer) before the scheduled check-in date.
THE BARBI
Guests are free to use the propane barbecue grill located just outside the kitchen door. All we ask is that you clean it after using it.

SOLITUDE
Remember, you are renting the entire 1400 square foot bungalow-style home. You will not be sharing it with anyone (except any guests that you bring with you, of course).
ROUGHLY, HOW MUCH IS IT TO STAY 2 NIGHTS?
As a host, I try to be as transparent as I can.
The following figures currently reflect a standard 2-nights stay:
$125.00 per night X 2 = $250.00
Cleaning fee = $55 (100% of that cost goes to the crew, not me)
Guest service fee (an Airbnb thing) = $43.06
Occupancy taxes (the county needs their share) = $48.45
Guest total = $396.51
After a "Host service fee" (3.0%... ugh, c'mon Airbnb), I walk away with $240.85, which we try to use for property improvements and regular maintenance.
AND FINALLY, OUR LAWYERS INSISTED...
*Hotplates are not allowed.
*No parties.
*No filming/recording of the interior of the home for commercial purposes.
*Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am (a city ordinance).
*By booking this short-term rental, the guest(s) affirm that they have a primary residence inside or outside of the United States and that they understand that the relationship between each party is one of owner: guest.
Guest access
The door code is sent 1 or 2 days prior to your check-in.
Other things to note
This is ABSOLUTELY a non-smoking facility. Smoking will not be permitted in or around the premises. Failure to observe this requirement will result in an immediate charge of $250 under the Security Deposit clause of Airbnb's rental agreement. (We will be required to wash walls and steam clean furniture to remove the odor.)
One of the closets in the main bedroom contains the owner's personal items (clothing, books, pictures) and remains locked during a guest's visit. The basement also contains cleaning supplies and other tools and is not accessible to guests.
Guests provide their own meals.
