We had a great experience staying in the Thistle dew, we would definitely go back !
great food. beach is perfect. got do use the kayaks. awesome stars at night. ride the bike to/from the beach. no shoes. just sand.
Craig is really a great host! he picked us up from the train and made a small tour of the town pointing the best placed to go. Made us breakfast and coffee each day. He have us good tips to explore the city and even point out when the sky was perfect to see stars!
Craig and Lucille provided beach towels, umbrellas and chairs. Bathroom and room where clean and nice. There is a small fridge you can use to keep some wine cold, or keep leftover from The Harvest restaurant.
Town is close to the house. You can take a taxi ($10 bucks anywhere in montauk) or bike there. Local supermarket had everything we could need.
Restaurants in the city and the harbor where very good. Great sushi!
Ditch Plains beach is very close to the house. Just a few minutes ride on the bike and its gorgeous. The first days the sea was very calm, we even took the kayaks in :) . The next days it was more rough, apparently perfect for surfing as it was filled with surfers. I don't surf, but it was very fun to watch them. Bathrooms in the beach where very clean.
I made my reservation last minute, Craig and Lucille were super helpful and fast to respond. Unfortunately i didn't get to meet them but their son was there to help and make me feel home. House is friendly and home like. it is located 3 blocks from the beach, quite with mostly surfers. great spot for catching up on quite and peace.
This was my first time using Airbnb to rent a room for someone, and it was a great experience! The house is a great location only a few minutes walk to Ditch Plains Beach. Craig and Lucille were so nice and my boyfriend and I enjoyed chatting with them. They made us breakfast and coffee and even gave us a ride in to town. I would definitely recommend staying with them!
Wonderful place to stay with wonderful hosts! Highly recommended!
The bedroom is quiet with what is essentially a private entrance in the back of the house. Craig even made us some great breakfast burritos while he and his wife recommended the best places to (and not to) explore. The outdoor shower was blissful. There's a small fridge downstairs that we found cold bottles of water in. It was also perfect to store the rosé we brought with us. Our first, night, we even came home to find brownies and milk left for us! Yum! Being able to use their mountain bikes was a huge benefit. They even have kayaks for the adventurous. Beach chairs and all the towels we could ever need were ready for the using.
Ditch Plains beach is where all the locals in Montauk go. Expect people in the neighborhood to say hi as you walk or ride past them. Super friendly. Lots of surfers at the beach, and also a nice, safe swimming area. When you get to the beach, head left to check out the main surfing action, but the beach is larger to the right, and after a short walk, there are some beautiful cliffs to drop your chairs next to. There's a great, affixed food truck right by the beach that sells all the basic munchies and drinks you might need (great coffee there too).
Also, definitely splurge for dinner one night at The Crow's Nest which is very close (walking distance) to the house with fantastic food and a gorgeous setting for a beautiful sunset.
Craig, Lucille and Connor are really wonderful hosts. They graciously picked us up from the train when we arrived and instantly made us feel at home. We really enjoyed hanging out with them during our stay.
The house itself is perfectly situated, a short walk to the beach. Beach towels and chairs were provided, which was really helpful.
As others have pointed out, really good coffee! Craig also makes great French toast.
Hoping to return sometime soon!
Craig was a very friendly host and their place is a just a stones throw from the beach!
Thanks....it is definitely constructive and appreciated, I did not intend to deceive...... moving the gym equipment into the Den or back at to other home before next rental .....also if continues to work out Ill put two sitting chairs or love seat and TV in the room. The backyard will be beautiful by end of summer.
I hope you enjoyed the rest and try us again....Ill discount your next stay
Craig and his family were great! Very comfortable stay, super close to the beach and the use of the bikes/easy access to cabs made it a breeze for us to get around. Great coffee, too :) Will definitely be back!
Montauk is my heaven.Splitting my time with Lucille my beautiful wife between Montauk and Amityville village. Love anything and everything Montauk. Have come here throughout my childhood packed the car after graduating HS and worked at Gurneys inn before attending PACE university then living in the city for some time before suburban family life and purchased our beach house 20 years ago.
