Nestled in the Oakland Hills, a first floor, one bedroom in-law unit of a 2-story cabin with acreage. Note: My family and I live upstairs, we shut down at about 10pm every night, a little later on the weekends but during the day we are in and out. If you are a super light sleeper or expect deafening silence this is not the best place to stay. Features a comfy pillow-top California King size bed, toilet and shower, kitchen with oven, microwave, coffee maker and full-size refrigerator. There is no stove top but there are 2 electric burners to boil water, fry eggs, etc. The unit is very kid friendly and even has toys neatly tucked away in the living room. The bed can sleep 2 adults and a small child. Note about the pillow top mattress: if you have a bad back and require an extra firm mattress this is not it. There is a couch in the living room that is made up of real mattresses and it sleeps 2 very comfortably. We have also added a flat screen tv with roku, dvd player and about 100 dvds to choose from. Plenty of parking next to my husband's collection of beloved cars,
wi-fi, huge deck for private use. Use of bbq and picnic tables. 5 minute drive to freeway, 20 minutes to san francisco, 10 minutes to downtown oakland, 15 minute drive to oakland airport. 10 minute drive to the lovely Montclair village for sunday farmer's market or delicious bagels at "House of Bagels"... you definitely need a car to stay here as public transportation is not that convenient to the house. Multiple locations to drive to BART (train) into san francisco are available within driving distance. Best part of this house...the surrounding trees and nature, very tranquil setting with trails to walk through on the property. The cottage is pet friendly for well-behaved pets, no-smoking please. Extra amenities available upon request (i.e., iron, blow dryer, etc.) The house is on a steep and rough road. drive up slowly to avoid too many bumps. if your car has a really low underbelly and you're concerned, this might not be the best place for you.
This house is in the woods....a nature lover's paradise! We are a super laid-back, flexible family with a love for animals and nature and seek the same in guests we welcome into our home. We will go out of our way to accommodate our guests. :)
Note: our minimum is 3 nights unless there are only 2 consecutive days available on my calendar. Feel free to message me and I can offer a special offer on a case by case basis.

Clean, quiet, roomy, and private hideaway!
Sophia and her family welcomed us to their home in the Oakland hills. It is a wonderful retreat from the city. There are hiking trails that overlook the bay and they have many friendly animals. The commute into San Francisco is very heavy with traffic, taking 45 minutes or longer depending on the time of day but we planned out trips accordingly. There is plenty to do in Oakland and on the east side of the bay too. We had a wonderful vacation and we are very happy that we chose to stay here.
Our stay at the cabin was perfect. It was quiet and away from the busy noises and city. We had an entire apartment area to ourselves with a living room, kitchen with hot plate and oven for cooking, bathroom and large bedroom with a very comfy bed. We really enjoyed our stay with Sofia. She had 3 dogs, 2 cats and a pony, which was great because we are animal lovers and were really missing our pets while on vacation. The fridge was stocked with some necessities, as well as the bathroom had a few things in case you forget something. It was about an hours drive in traffic to San Francisco and 45 mins to the San Jose airport where we flew out from our last day. It was great to have the place to ourselves and to be able to cook some meals.
Sophia and her family were very inviting. We stayed there for 2 weeks and had lived in the Bay Area for 2 years before that. We only wished we had a place like that to call home for those two years. It's close to the freeway for getting to Oakland, Berkeley or whatever your destination might be. Even though you are close you would never know its so quiet and peaceful up there you forget you are in the busy Bay Area. Highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying around that area and of course the price makes it even a better deal.
Hands down the best Airbnb experience I've had thus far. Great value for the price paid. The listing and the reviews provide all expectations and the bed was very comfortable.
My husband and I and our 2 dogs enjoyed staying with Sophia. She was there to greet us when we came in so we felt welcome. She had some nice refreshments for us. We stayed 6 nights and slept like babies every night. Loved the soft bed. Everything was clean and tidy. We really appreciated the extra land for our dogs. Our dogs got along well with Sophia's dogs. I have to say this is such a better option than a Hotel. My husband is a chef and he had no trouble cooking up some nice meals. We will be booking Sophia again !
We had a wonderful experience at the cozy and rustic cabin in the woods! Sophia and her husband were very helpful and accommodating. We stayed there with our six month old daughter, and they let us use their pack and play, and even left some books and toys for her to play with! It was a very comfortable spot. The only downside to the location is that it is a bit out of the way, but it is very secluded, and only 10-15 minutes from all of Oakland. A great place at a great price.
Clean, quiet, comfortable and convenient! I was hosting my parents for a grandparents weekend and didn't want to overpay for a hotel that they wouldn't be in for more than 8 hours a day or have to drive 20 minutes to get to. This was perfect! As a couple of country bumpkins a little concerned about visiting the 'big city' they were very happy with the accommodations.
Sophia's place is a great space to settle in and enjoy nature -- while still being close to the urban life. Quiet and cozy, the flat feels like home. There are paths up into the hills through the woods that are good exercise and give you some nice views of the Bay Area. Sophia and her family are welcoming and warm -- and their sweet dogs and kitty make instant friends!
Very nice and helpful family. The little apartment is cute and the property is beautiful. Really good value!
