Warm and Cozy lodge nestled in the hills of Fairfax, and yet very close to the Town, Enjoy the calm and serenity comfortable for 7 guests - in your very own hideaway! All the comforts of home with the seclusion of a cabin wrapped into one.
It's in the hills of Fairfax surrounded by trees, very private with a remote feeling, although you are very close to town.
The house is like a mountain lodge, there are 2 bedrooms one with a queen size bed and one with a twin day bed, and each bedroom has a loft, in which both have queen size beds. There is a full bathroom upstairs and a half bathroom on the main level.
The house is surrounded by trees, you will really feel like you are in the woods, yet it is so close to town, 5 min away from downtown Fairfax.
You will have access to the whole house and outdoor area.
Parking is very limited, only 1 spot is available to you. However there are places in the town of Fairfax where you can safely leave a car over night.
Other Things to Note
Parking is very limited so be mindful when planning your excursion!
This rental experience unfortunately did not entirely meet my expectations. The house was quite rustic, and the setting was lovely. My group referred to it as "the treehouse" and the lushness and privacy of the neighborhood was appreciated. The window seat in the dining area was very comfortable and had a lovely view over the neighborhood.
However, there was a water problem in the house despite the large dehumidifier, which we emptied at least twice a day. There was a significant damp/moldy smell that permeated the house and irritated one of the guest's allergies.
Also, information about check-in time and procedures wasn't supplied until the evening before our arrival after several requests. The instructions alluded to a "welcome packet" in the home with information about the house and area, however we only found a scrap of paper with the wifi code on the fridge. We were told that only one parking space was available, however while quickly unloading our belongings from an extra vehicle, the next door neighbor came down and told us in no uncertain terms that we needed to vacate ASAP, despite not being in their driveway. In addition, when there was a power outage, the host was unable to tell me where to find any flashlights or candles in the house, which provided unnecessary frustration. Overall, we did not feel entirely welcomed into the home or neighborhood.
We were very excited to stay in this location, and disappointed by the overall feel.
The place was comfortable and very quiet. It was my first experience renting a house through airbnb and I was not disappointed.
The bathroom was a little uncomfortable for us though, since the shower has a huge window that somebody might take a peep. But then again, we were vacationers in a foreign land...who cares if somebody takes a peep :)
This house is a good value and worked fine for us. It is clean, spacious, and in a good location convenient to Point Reyes and other outdoor attractions in Marin County. The beds were comfy, and check in and check out were simple. The outdoor space is wonderful in warm weather.
I wouldn't recommend the house for those who are environmentally sensitive or suffer from allergies as the house is musty, especially some of the kitchen cabinets, and a perfumed laundry detergent or fabric softener is used for the sheets and towels.
While the kitchen is well equipped, it is not suited to a more serious cook. The pans and cooking implements are not in good condition, but there are plenty of plates, glasses, etc.
If these issues don't concern you, this property is just fine.
Very nice house in Marin. Communication with the host was easy. We would stay at this house again.
We enjoyed our stay in the woodsy hills of Fairfax. The location of the house was very convenient for walking into town as well as for exploring the surrounding area. The house was cozy and comfortable, we loved having our morning coffee in amongst the trees on the patio. Emily was responsive to our questions and concerns...a great help for our first time using Airbnb.
I really enjoyed staying here for a few nights during my weekend trip with a friend from the east coast. It is centrally located in Marin county; close to downtown Fairfax and close to Point Reyes. The house was clean, quiet, comfortable, and very woodsy feeling. We spent a lot of time on the deck and did most of our cooking in the well equipped and cozy kitchen. It made for a perfect home base for our weekend of hiking and exploring. Emily was also very responsive and getting in and out of the house was really easy. I didn't meet Emily but the ease of getting the keys with no hassle really added to the overall seclusion of the home. I highly recommend staying here.
The house is very spacious, well decorated, and even better than what we expected from the pictures. We really enjoyed our stay there, the peaceful neighborhood, the fresh air and lots of greens. The big terrace where we can sit and relax is a nice surprise. It is easy to explore others lovely spots in Marin such as Muir Woods and Tiburon, while being not very far away from San Francisco as well(about 30 min'd drive). So we both have the country retreat and city enjoyment. Would definitely love to stay here again if we revisit the area.
