Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Luxurious rural get-away 7 mins (3.4 mi) from downtown Ashland: farm critters, creek, mature trees, orchard, kitchen garden + your own deck from which to enjoy the view.

Private upper deck and entrance to a freshly remodeled master bedroom and bath. Firm, CalKing Tempur-Pedic mattress with plush organic topper, plethora of pillows, soft bedding. Hardwood + marble floors and a coffee + tea bar. Small table +2 chairs for enjoying your coffee indoors or cranking out some work on your laptop.

The space
COVID-19 precautions: Our cleaning standards are high. The comforter cover and blankets are washed after each guest as are all surfaces, doorknobs and drawer pulls. We also use the highest grade air filters, our dishwasher is set to “sanitize” and we set 24-hour breaks between guests. Host is vaccinated. That said, we understand if guests cancel due to travel concerns and appreciate the consideration and care all exhibit when assessing their own health.

Bel Avenir Farm is a 5-acre rural oasis in the heart of Southern Oregon outdoor and cultural life. We raise grass-fed and finished lamb and pastured eggs for direct sale, striving to be good stewards to our soil, water, pollinators and wildlife. Spring is lambing season, daffodils, baby chicks and wild bird nest making; Summer is full of fresh produce and evening wildlife encounters; Fall brings apples, pears, quince and one group of elementary schoolers for scarecrow making + pumpkins. In Winter we harvest lamb, clean hides and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

From your room you'll enjoy a bird's eye view of the backyard, orchard and tree-covered bridge that crosses Myer Creek (the best place to hang out on a hot day). Please feel free to explore the grounds, graze on whatever produce is in season or try your hand at a game of boules or horse-shoes. If the lawn games aren't out (we pack them away when rains come, but are still happy to loan them), text Diane for access.

Room and linens cleaned with eco-friendly, unscented products; trash liners are compostable versus plastic. Shampoos, soaps and lotions contain essential oils.

The farm is a great place to unplug. We don't have TV or cable, but our wifi is fast for those that need or want online access.

Ashland is home to the Shakespeare Festival, Ashland Independent Film Festival, and plenty of opportunity for outdoor adventure. A bike friendly town, it's easy to navigate by bike path and surface roads. Hiking and MTB trails crisscross the slopes backing downtown. Once you've worked up an appetite (or thirst), the local eateries have you covered from casual to fine dining. Depending on the season, there's also skiing, lake fun, outdoor entertainment and paragliding lessons. Farmers and artisans markets feature feasts for the eyes and tastebuds April-October.

Nearby historic Jacksonville hosts the Britt Festival, bringing in big name and diversely talented musicians to perform under the stars. Wineries and craft breweries abound. Just beyond, in Applegate, hang gliders claim the skies, adding color to clear blue.

Where you’ll be

Ashland, Oregon, United States

Our farm sits in a rural neighborhood close to town with longer days in winter (as we're outside the shadow of the mountains) and lovely views year round. Folks out here love their land, many have livestock or horses. There are no sidewalks, only a very narrow shoulder, but pedestrians and cyclists are welcome and often enjoy our country roads. Please walk against traffic and be mindful when sun is low, drivers may not see you.

Choosing private rooms in owner-occupied houses ensures that your vacation rental did not displace local residents or help drive housing prices beyond affordable. Private rooms are in the original spirit of Airbnb. Your stay help keeps our small farm in operation. Thank you.

G'day! When not sleeping in a tent or staying with friends, we love renting Airbnbs as travel accommodations. Fall 2018 I started hosting and now enjoy both sides of the Airbnb experience. Favorite family trips include: bike touring/camping along the California’s Avenue of the Giants; my son's first international trip (Tulum, Mexico at 3yo); collecting sea glass and memories on the Oregon Coast, rafting our local rivers and SUPing our local lakes; swimming with manatees in Florida, backpacking with llamas in Goat Rocks Wilderness; snowshoeing in search of the perfect Christmas tree; and sampling food-truck fare with friends in Austin, Texas. Whatever is next, it’s sure to be an adventure!

During your stay

Your comfort is important to us. Please let us know if there's something we can do that would make your stay better... or if you are interested in a farm tour.

We give our guests space and also live here, so you may see us! Feel free to say hi and strike up a conversation... or not. When the weather is nice, we might be BBQing on the lower deck. You're welcome to join us or stay upstairs and we'll just wave once and carry on. Sometimes kiddo hosts a friend for a few afternoon hours and they may be found climbing trees, playing with chickens, in the creek or concentrating on lego construction indoors, weather dependent.

Our dog, Bo, is friendly and loves to play. He also has a job. He guards the chickens from hawks, eagles and bobcats. So if he's trying to rope you into a game of fetch on the lawn, feel free to indulge him for a bit and then tell him "guard dog chickens!" or "to the chickens!" and he'll get back to work.
