    This is the closest winery to our hillside cottage. In addition to delicious wines like the Elevation Cabernet, they also have an outdoor sculpture exhibit and a fantastic view from the tasting room.

    This is the closest grocery store to the cottage. They have a very good selection, including lots of gourmet items but the prices for general grocery fare are better at Lucky supermarket.

    This park is just down the hill and a few miles north of our cottage. Sibylla goes hiking here quite often. This is a park with short and somewhat level hikes. Try the Three Lake Trail.

    Woodenhead is not very well known, but this place has some wonderful wines. Pinots and zins are first rate.

    When driving down Hwy 12, dont miss Cafe Citti, a great place to stop for lunch. We crave their chicken, pasta and daily specials like the porcini pasta. Dont leave without ordering dessert!

    April 23, 2014. We just had lunch here yesterday. The onion soup was rich and delicious. We also had the duck sandwich and the ribeye/ french dip sandwich. Take home a seeded baguette.

    This really interesting rammed earth building has a large tasting room and lots of great wines to try. I like the Lytton Springs Zinfandel. The 3 Valleys Zin and Mataro are pretty good too.

    Old general store that has great sandwiches. Good place to stop for lunch as you tour the dry creek valley wineries. Youll find that its a popular biker hangout on the weekends.

    The local paper had a contest and voted Armstong Redwoods the best spot for a picnic. Not as famous as Muir Woods, but closer to the cottage.

    This is one of our favorite places, located in the historic, one street town of Geyserville. Meats are butchered cured in house and the wood fired pizzas are delicious. So are many other items.

    If youre a Hitchcock fan, youll remember the scene from The Birds where the terrified kids run from this building while crows attack. Lots of fun to check out on your way back from the beach.

    If you like raw oysters on the half shell, pick up one or two dozen kumamoto or small sweetwater oysters. They farm them here and theyre as fresh as can be. Borrow our ice chest before you go.
