About this listing
Hello, I have a top floor furnished room to share in the heart of Capitol Hill; an urban residential area situated on a steep hill just east of the central business district. Seattle's best neighborhood for restaurants, nightlife and shopping.
I have a projector set up with a Roku which streams Netflix and Pandora One in the living room. I have found most guests don't like to watch TV but watching a movie or your favorite show on the big screen is a great experience. I have a guest Laptop available for your use. Your welcome to add stations to the apt Pandora One internet radio as well. I just ask you be respectful of the other guests when it comes to the volume.
- Fast wireless internet
- Guest Computer
- Air Conditioning
- Pandora One Internet Radio (no ads)
- Plenty of towels and blankets.
- Wood pellet grill for cooking.
- Incredible dining room and balcony views of downtown Seattle, the Space Needle, and sunsets over the Olympic Mountains.
Interaction with Guests
I spend most of my time currently working at my shop. You will either be sharing my place with another guest or with me and my dog Lucky. I will be in the area or at my shop and will check in periodically in person or via text, email. You're certainly welcome to have a friend over and enjoy a bottle of wine, but this apartment is not for hosting parties.

Good communication by text & stay was comfortable. Good location. Would recommend.
Calen was easy to communicate with and a great guy, and the place was in a convenient location at the center of Capitol Hill. The bed is comfortable and the room has everything you would need for a good stay. This isn't a fancy hotel experience- it feels like you are staying with a friend. We showed up and then Calen arrived to clean the place for us and chatted with us, offering suggestions. One thing to note is that there may be another Airbnb guest staying in the other bedroom.
Although we didn't meet Calen, everything was prepared and laid out as he said it would be. Much appreciated! Great view from the deck with a lounging couch. Only a 8-10 buck cab ride to Seattle Center, as well as a few great restraunts 2 blocks up the hill. Great location!
The location is great, right between the action on Broadway and 15th Ave E. Calen is very welcoming and makes himself available at all times via email and/or text. The bedroom we had was very comfortable. The bed was excellent. There are some things of which guests should be aware: Calen did not appear to live in the apartment, he is not around to provide any guidance on the apartment, neighborhood, or Seattle in general. Thus you do not get to know or gain insight from a local resident. Unfortunately, he rents both bedrooms and the place is too small for 4 guests (two in each bedroom with one bathroom). During our first visit the other guests who had arrived before us monopolized the entire place (kitchen and living room) and in effect we were relegated to our bedroom. The kitchen can only hold one person at a time. During our second visit, the other guests were very considerate and friendly which made the stay much more pleasant. In general, the apartment was functional but could use a good cleaning. The patio/balcony was not very functional because it was cluttered with junk and the living room was also cluttered with things that should have been stored elsewhere.
Clean space and easy to get into even though Calen wasn't available when we arrived. The shower didn't have supplies for us, but otherwise we couldn't have asked for anything else. Good location close to a lot of great Seattle places.
We didn't spend too much time at Calen's place, but everything was as described. When we first got to the apartment, the sheets weren't changed yet from the prior occupant, but Calen got clean sheets for us a short while later. Thanks for everything!

About the Host, Calen
Hello and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to host you on Airbnb. I want to make sure you are comfortable at my place and am more than happy to offer my experiences and insights to navigating the best the Emerald City has to offer.
I am very open and accepting to people from all backgrounds. Your welcome to use anything of mine. All I ask is that you be respectful to my home, respect my privacy as well as my neighbors privacy.
I am 34 years old born in Seattle and grew up just outside the city in Kirkland, WA. I know the Seattle area very well and can offer great insights if you let me know a bit about what your plans are. As for me, typically I've been spending most of my time working out of Ballard which is a neighborhood in the northwestern part of the city.
I have a female dog named Lucky who is about 8 years old now and comes with me sometimes. She still acts like a puppy and has a bad habit of jumping up on people that I don't think I will ever train her out of. Lucky is harmless and has never bitten anyone but she can become territorial at times.
A little more about my background if your curious:
I am a former pro athlete who has worked as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. I transitioned from one on one training to group exercise sessions leading hour long classes aimed at high intensity cardio, targeted strength building movement patterns and stretching. I'm not currently teaching but am working on the choreography for my next class/bootcamp and hope to teach again soon. I'd love to have my guests join when that time comes. In the meantime I am dedicated to making sure your Airbnb experience is a great one.
